a taste of success and people expect us to sweep every series. win 2/3 of most series and you're in the playoffs, thats all i care about

I understand, and I agree, it's unrealistic to expect. But the fact they have not completed a single sweep with so many opportunities I find a bit troubling. They need to pad their lead with as many wins as they can. Not to mention it's just frustrating to watch as fans. But you're right that they're doing well so far overall, especially given the key players out.

But we need these sweeps, we aren't going to keep taking 2 of 3 with these injuries.

Then how can we be expecting sweeps with these injuries?   Do you even hear yourself?

:lmao:

"Quality start."  If you guys expect the rest of the starting staff to keep up the numbers they've been putting up all season, you're gonna have a bad time.  They are human after all.

I have no problem with Jordan's start tonight.  He gave up three runs in six innings.  That's not bad, not bad at all.

He shouldn't have come out for the 7th inning. That's a Davey problem not a Jordan problem.

Oh and Nady needs to be gone, yesterday.

Started an hour and a half late.  Just got to the ninth on the DVR.  Bummer.  All in all, a good weekend.  Sucks about Werth, just when Zim and LaRoche (hopefully) were coming back.  Can't catch a break with the health this year.  If they can get Morse back by that trip to Boston, that'd be huge.  Gotta think we've seen the last of Werth til at least August, perhaps even the season.  Interesting to see what they do in the outfield, hopefully they can get Moore out there in left and swing Harper around.  Anyway, it was a good weekend for the Nats, but it would appear they're not quite ready for prime time.

We are in 1st I'm pumped...but we can't afford to give at bats to Danny Espinosa anymore.

1. Keep winning 2 out of 3 and I'm happy

2. JZimmnn isn't quite up there with GG and Strssburg, but NN was clearly the Nats best last season. Not shabby as a number 3 starter

3. RZim return Tuesday

4. CMW returns, and then the Nats will have too many starters.

5. LaRoche returns by Friday (my guess) and the hitting is minus Werth but plus Harper, when compared to opening day.

6. Harper stole home. I've seen it but can't remember when. I know Jackie Robinson did it, but otherwise? Harper will only get better.

And Nady.  I'm still skeptical on Tracy, Desmond and Lombo too.

Tracy off the bench should be really good.  I want to see more of Lombo.  I think he can be really solid, but still learning on the fly at this level.

Nady is done.  but those 3 are some of our best right now.

Right now.  But we're on borrowed time with Tracy, Lombo still needs more time and Desmond may be showing what he's capable of but we've seen this before.

For that matter, we're really hoping Morse is the real deal too.

He was definitely off tonight, it happens.  The 7th was bad, and he should have been pulled before the bases were loaded, but like you say, giving up 3 runs in 6 innings on when you're "off" is not bad at all.

I really have no problem with Desmond himself, it's asking him to leadoff that's the issue.

Well, can't forget that Zimmermann would have been charged with more runs if not for an outstanding inning by Stammen. But yeah, not up to JZimm's standard but still a good start. Like most losses, this one's mainly on the offense, not Jordan.

Despite the terrible loss, I want to remember the game Bryce Harper stole home, then proceeded to get 2 hits.

Picked on his noodle armed LF?  That's all I can come up with, but he really only did that after he hit him, so IDK.  They're just gonna have to deal with it for the next 6 years or so.

and turned a seeing eye single into a double, even if it was only Juan Pierre in LF.

But he wouldn't have had the walks if he didn't come out in the 7th. Davey has been manager and seen him long enough to know that 7th innings are bad for him.

I don't disagree, but it still would have been more runs charged to JZimm in a time he could have pitched better. But yes, putting him out there in the first place was one of Johnson's gaffes so far this season.
