#9 on this week's BA Hot Sheet:

http://www.baseballamerica.com/minors/prospect-hot-sheet-may-23-a-pair-of-dodgers-lead-the-way/

Quote
9. Michael Taylor, cf, Nationals
Michael Taylor
Team: Double-A Harrisburg (Eastern)
Age: 23
Why He’s Here: .375/.459/.688 (12-for-32), 9 R, 1 2B, 3 HR, 5 RBIs, 5 BB, 10 SO, 5 SB, 0 CS

The Scoop: A center fielder with plus speed and defense is always good, but adding power to that package makes things more tantalizing. So it should come as great comfort to Nationals fans that Taylor has started launching balls at Double-A. He belted three this week, boosting his season total to 11. The total not only pushed him past his previous career high, it also helped him unseat the since-promoted Kyle Roller as the Eastern League’s reigning sultan of swat.

No room for him in DC. Our offense is too good.

I question how well his 30% strikeout rate in Double A would play. Something tells me he and Espinosa would be alternating Golden Sombreros

Typical night for Taylor.

2/5 with a HR, 2 RBIs, 3 Ks.

.296/.376/.579 slash but a staggering 65 Ks in 159 ABs.

Not yet, but soon: let Taylor work on his Ks and in a year or two give him CF. His batting average is going up, I think. Seems like two weeks ago he was hitting about .275. Good direction.

Yep, he was in the .260's last time I posted in here. Striking out at an alarming pace still, though.

Makes BA's Hot Sheet for second week in a row:

http://www.baseballamerica.com/minors/prospect-hot-sheet-may-30-bryant-terrorizes-double-a-pitchers/

Quote
11. Michael Taylor, cf, Nationals
Michael Taylor
Team: Double-A Harrisburg (Eastern)
Age: 23
Why He’s Here: .433/.500/.867 (13-for-30), 6 R, 2 2B, 3B, 3 HR, 7 RBIs, 4 BB, 10 SO, 2-for-2 SB

The Scoop: Taylor is on the list for the second straight week, and for many of the same reasons. He already plays above-average defense in center field and has plus speed, so if the surge with the bat is real, he could take his prospect status to a new level. Overall in May he’s slashing .370/.442/.730 with nine homers and is riding a nine-game hitting streak.

There's a glaring need in left field if anyone is paying attention.

Can Taylor go to AAA and demote Goodwin to AA? Goodwin is drawing walks and that is it. No power, no hitting, few SBs.

How does that help Goodwin get better?

Having him flounder in AAA is doing no good. 3/31 (.097) in last 10 games.

Sending him back does no good. Kepp him there, let him develop. Taylor still has a lot to work on. Remember tyler Moore? Yea, lots of pop, lots of Ks. Taylor is blocked for the season. No reason to move either one of them.

Demoting him could cause more harm than good.  Allowing him to work out his issues in AAA is not a big deal.

Just now, Syracuse has Walters (.339), Souza (.359), and Hood (.330) in the OF. All have OPS > 9. Looks like Eury Perez and Goodwin are benched.
