What are you watching today (3/4)?
« Topic Start: March 04, 2012, 09:40:33 AM »
I have the Nats at 1 PM.   Think I'll watch United and Hotspurs at 11 AM.   Race from Phoenix and golf are a flip back and forth time.   If I last through all that, I'll watch the Caps this evening.   Hopefully, I'll get a peak at VCU today.   That's where my money goes.  :)

Check out the CAA Tournament on espn3 and the comcast network locally. You've got Drexel/ODU and VCU/Mason. 2 good games.

VCU/Mason is a keeper.   They usually play a good game and they're recent Final Four qualifiers.   Throw in the local (Mason) and the financial (VCU) and you have a good game brewing.

Mason won the first game with a buzzer beater 3 point shot, then Mason disrespected VCU's senior day ceremony by taking the court too early, being booed by 8k fans. VCU went on to beat them in the second regular season game by 12 pretty easily. It should be a heated, emotional game. Fans don't like each other.

I'll be rooting for Mason but I think that they over achieved to get their win total and so I'm pessimistic about their chances today.  Next year they've got a hot freshman coming in who's been getting more hype than any Mason recruit I can remember reading about and playing for their second year under the new coach I have higher hopes.

As for TV watching, Nats, NASCAR, and Mason are the big three.

Nats, at least the start. Maybe a basketball game later.

I have a lot of stuff to get done today, unfortunately.

I still can't see this team making the playoffs. It'll come down to the final week or two.

I said a while back that we won't know until the last week. I'm sticking to that prediction.  :)

I've been sidetracked into watching something I saw over 20 years ago for the first time.  "The Power Of Myth"  ...  interview with Joseph Campbell by Bill Moyers.    That series changed the way I think about a lot of things to this day.

Back to NASCAR and VCU.    May be into the "Rum Diary" later.   Seen all or parts of it 10 or so times.   Love it.

Thank God Moyer did it on TV. It's impossible to get through  a Campbell book.

And I agree that it gives you a perspective that's hard to get any other way.

I've got about 10 or 12 of Campbell's books.   I usually take 'em to the bathroom and read 10 or 12 pages at a time.   Then my hair starts to hurt.     Occasionally, I'll start reading and "get it".    I stay in that mode for as long as I can.   Satori  ...   I wonder how one man could be so versed in mythology, etc.

Did anyone watch the VCU/Mason game? VCU started the game 22-0. I've never seen anything like that in my history of watching the sport of basketball. They led by as many as 26 at one point I think, but ultimately won by 10. Refs influenced the game significantly with their calls.
