Makes Morse a lot easier to trade when he's cost controlled.

Suck thinks 70 million means the sky is falling. Ignore him when it comes to payroll.

You cannot have too many first basemen. Wait a minute... that seems odd.

It works both ways, no prince, and we have a cost controlled 1b, if we get prince, he's cost controlled trade bait

He thinks 70 million is too high?

I'm sure any amount is too much for the front office lapdog.

Pirates would love Morse.  Maybe for Tabata, Presley or Marte when he's ready. And an arm or two. So many high school arms in the last few drafts that they're piggybacking them in the lower levels.

Michael Morse agreed to terms on a two-year deal with the #Nats. Not sure of the dollar figures.

i wouldn't be interested in presely but tabata or marte plus arms would be outstanding.  or we could aim for the sky and try for mccutch :)

Kilgore tweets: So the Nats bought out Morse's remaining arbitration years. Should have little-to-no effect on what's happening with Fielder.

I like this one.

Jose Tabata's a left fielder, though. Or is it just that McCutchen made him move to left?

Having followed the Pirates every day of my life until I BITTERLY divorced them, I can give a little insight.

Tabata can play CF, and did until joining McCutchen in the OF, but he's had various minor leg problems the last couple of years and some are worried that he will lose speed as he thickens. Power in his bat will shock you if you see him live and have only seen his numbers, but he hits line drives and hasn't hit many over the fence the way scouts thought he would. We'll see. Still very young and gets on base. If he breaks out, he will be a bargain as he signed a very weird, long, cheap extension buying him out for quite a few years.

Scouts torn on Marte but is a good prospect with a high ceiling. Great glove, speed and arm. Hits for average and has added some pop. Doesn't walk much, but has been cutting his K rate and was very raw. As he moves up to AAA this year, we'll see if he starts taking some walks since now he might have to.

Presley is a mystery. Might be a fourth OF or a decent CF who has a little bit of OBP ability and a touch of power. He could wash out or consistently put up a .750 OPS with an adequate CF glove. I saw this before with Adrian Brown, Chris Duffy and Nate Mclouth. We know how they turned out.

Of course we... sigh... THEY should extend Cutch and build around him but they have already started the excuse machine as talks went nowhere. You guys think the Lerners are cheap. They may be, but nowhere as embarrasing and almost criminally cheap as Bob Nutting. They get enough in revenue sharing to cover almost the entire major league payroll, or at least they used to.

I. Hate. Them.
