The thing is, "signing a star CF free agent in 2013" is so far out and unpredictable that I don't buy into it. No chance Victorino, Upton and Bourn are all free agents. At least one will re-sign with their team and it's too risky to say we'll wait for that.

People have to be reminded of this every year.

Or you know, do both things.

Funny that his graph said it was better for Nats to add Prince than a CF, but he still wrote the article anyways.

Yeah but for the costs, it was more efficient. He then says if you can do both, then go for it, but if it's one or the other, you're better off going for the CF cuz then you can resign Zim with the $

Except there's no promise they could land a CF or even re-sign Zimm. Rather take Prince now and figure out later... later.

The problem with the graph is that it's got Bernadina in CF for 2013.  Unless the Shark learns how to hit a baseball really soon, ain't no way that's gonna happen.  Prince or no Prince.

Basically its better for the Nats over the LONG term if we DON'T get Fielder!  It allows us to keep the core together for longer!

That much we know, the question is for how long and how much.
You must be joking. I will keep ASSCLOWN my avatar all season if the Nats sign Prince Fielder. It's not going to happen.

Not signing Fielder only gives the Nats the potential to keep the core together.  Unless those guys sign extensions they're free to leave for Free Agency.

What do the naive fools have to do if they lose and he signs with someone else?

Where have you been?

WTF? I thought you were black!

  You thought Linty was a brotha and he ended up looking like a ginger in the pic he shared.

Oh trust. I got it.... in fact, before you posted, I saw UMD's video and thought... hey, that looks like my reaction.

I was just pointing out that I've been confused for being black before.

If Fielder ends up with a less-than-desirable deal and that's seen as the Nats fault for not giving him the deal Boras wants, we're going to have one pissed-off Boras. I hate to think of having to deal with him again next year.

You mean if the Nats outbid 28 other teams, they're in the doghouse?  That seems a bit extreme of a view.

Grab our torches and head over to Powerboater's houseboat on the Anacostia for a good ol' fashioned mob scene?

Signing players or improving the team is a pass/fail operation. Either you get the guy or you don't. If you don't get the guy that you want or need, then you have failed. Doesn't matter if you are a dime short or $10 million.

I'm not sure if the Nats would be better with or without Fielder. But if Rizzo thinks he'd improve the team, then it's a fail if he signs elsewhere.

As long as the Nats sign Fielder to a 6 or less year deal, it won't hurt them much, other than having a headache over which players to shift and where.

If it gets beyond 6 years you gotta wonder how age will impact him.
