The chances of the Nats signing Fielder dropped from about 10% chance before today to about 1%. Not going to happen. Please lock this thread up.

Time to go after Ryan Madsen so we can have a shut down bullpen :hang:

You just said NO chance two posts ago.  :lmao:

You're such a dope.  No wonder you keep wearing the ASS CLOWN avatar.

It is known that the Lerner's met with Boras. If it wasn't about Fielder was it about Jackson, Ankiel, Madson, or a plot by Boras to make other teams think the Nats were involved?

I doubt the Lerners would meet Boras to discuss Ankiel or anyone on that list. It had to be Fielder.

Something needs to happen, I don't care what.  I'm sick of this waiting.

Yes I know, the 18th.

Just pull an ASSCLOWN and attempt to convince yourself that Prince has already committed to signing with another team, even though nothing concrete has developed yet. :)

Fangraphs - Should The Nationals Sign Fielder

http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/index.php/should-the-nationals-sign-prince-fielder/

he argues we'd be better served spending money on an elite CF next season.

Or you know, do both things.

Funny that his graph said it was better for Nats to add Prince than a CF, but he still wrote the article anyways.

yeah, that was funny.  still, i see his point, signing fielder means we're committing to harper/werth/morse in the OF or dealing Morse.

future of Strass or Harper, friendly lunch, Boras's golf game, who knows, there are any number of things they could have talked about

Mike Morse is awesome, but if we can get a great fielding, decent hitting CF that can get on base a little bit, we should do it.

There's still over a month before ST begins so I'm seriously wondering why it is so many people are ready to jump off a bridge because a deal isn't done RIGHT NOW?

The latter being the most likely.  Taking away 1B definitely puts them in a tough spot with Morse.  Just think of how much easier this would be had they not signed Werth.

Sad day in Nats Town. What a shame that the front office isn't committed to winning right now.

No CFer, no Prince, no relief pitching help. Only one move of consequence made all offseason.

Rizzo once again flat out DENIES any interest in Fielder. Like I have said countless times, the Nats are not even in discussion for him. He's not Rizzo's type of player.

LOL, pathetic bolding on your part. You bold everything except the part where Rizzo says Prince would make this a better team.

I like how yesterday, it felt like we may have had Prince and now today it feels like we're the furthest away from him.

Simple, if we don't get Fielder signed soon we are going to have another situation like Werth where the front office staff doesn't have enough time before spring training to prepare his swing tapes, leading to a season long slump.

I half agree, but to think he's willing to settle for LaRoche is a complete joke. $100 we lose LaRoche before the All-Star break AGAIN.

I'd take that bet in a second, but it is a moot point since we are signing Fielder.

From the latest on Buster Olney:
http://insider.espn.go.com/mlb/blog/_/name/olney_buster/id/7427173/prince-fielder-make-nationals-immediate-playoff-contenders-there-risks-mlb

That is an awesome statement.  This has to happen, if Rizzo continues to naysay this signing then Lerner just may have to can his ass and take direct control of the GM duties.

I don't think we get Fielder mainly because the Lerners have proven time and time again they are cheap and don't really want to build a winner.
