Isn't Bedard hurt again?

If the Sox like Wakefield they should love Livo.

Sources: Talks between #Nationals, #Twins ongoing. Span, Storen center of discussions. Bernadina, others also in play. #tradedeadline #MLB

Why would they want Bernadina?  Desmond makes more sense I would think.

To be a fourth OF, presumably, since they would be giving up their starting CF.

Yeah, Clippard makes more sense than Storen.

This would be turrible for the Twins.  Trading a solid starting CF for a very good reliever (several available this offseason as free agents) and a 4th OF (also several available after the season and paid basically next to nothing).

It's better than the Ramos-Capps trade, but still not good.

When did the Twins become our farm team?  Ha.

What about Todd Coffey and something for Ben Revere?

edit:  I know that deal is probably bad for them, too.

Rizzo is going to freak everything up :bang:

What is he offering? Roger Bernadina and Ross Detwiler?

Span has played the last two days in AAA without problem. If Rizzo is worried about a concussion he should not even be trying to get Span.

Not sure but his offer sounds laughable. He takes after Bowden. They ask for the moon and rival GMs get pissed off and blacklist them.

i'd take him over what we have for the next few years until we get someone else (harper/hood/werth)

I agree with this. I'd like Upton if the cost isn't as high as originally reported. I'd move some mid-level guys and Desmond for him.

RE: Marquis & Red Sox - They are looking for someone who could be the #3 in a playoff rotation. Marquis has been dropped from the playoff rotation by every team that he's been on in the playoffs.  They don't need Marquis to make the playoffs. The Tigers, OTOH, have a closer divisional contest, so and upgrade at the 4th / 5th starter is more important.  The only way the Sox get interested in Marquis is if nothing else comes through and they want to win the division rather than the wild card.

4th OF who could be a defensive replacement for the corner OFs (Young / Cuddyer / Kubel).  Makes a bit of sense.

Probably have to include a prospect. I'd throw in Meyers, Moore, or Kobernus.

Bowden in chat: "despite DENIALS there is truth to a Nats/Twins trade discussion that includes Storen, Bernadina, Span, Gibson and others"

Gibson has struggled this year in AAA but that would be a nice deal.

Drew is an awesome dude... his mom even comments on my twitter account when I say something nice about him... but if you can get a CF'er for a closer... I have to say yes to the deal.
