Beltran to Giants for Wheeler and Cash.  Yet to be approved by Beltran and MLB.

You don't create a gigantic hole to fill another one. That's just stupid.

Ramos plays catcher, something no one else in the system can reliably do - it would be a supercrap trade.

Who's our ML ready center fielder? Upton locks down the position at least through next year- a year we should be making a run

You don't fill one hole by creating another. That makes no sense. Ramos for Upton would be a terrible trade

Defensive catchers can be found easier than CFs, unless Ankiel is going to be kept around

lol, no he doesn't. He simply fills in till someone better comes in.

And how do you figure we're making a run next year? Did we trade for Jimenez or Shields while I was out?

Ramos for Upton doesn't make a lot of sense. While I don't think Ramos will be elite, he's certainly capable of being good.

That is insane - there's a reason guys like Gary Bennett and Carlos Maldonado are kept around for 100 years, decent catchers are very rare.

If not next year when- our best offensive player isn't signed much longer and our over paid star is starting to decline

Nats already have a defensive catcher. There's zero reason to make this trade. I'm all for filling the hole at leadoff and centerfold but not by creating another one.

Nats need to use players from a position of surplus to make a trade, not a position of basically zero depth.

Honestly, I'd rather keep Bernadina than have Upton here. Unless Upton comes cheap. The guy is lazy and all he can do is hit for power and play good defense. Poor average, miserable OBP, strikes out a ton. No thanks.

Rather spend a little more and get Span or Bourjos.

Who is this defensive catcher you speak of?

So we're stuck with Stammen or Hinckley?

Our only surplus is number 4 starters- I doubt we're filling many holes with them

WTF, Ramos, c'mon people,

I wouldn't call him a defensive catcher, have you seen him catching throws from the OF? He's got a good arm, but he's a got a ways to go defensively.

Than we have to wait until free agency if that's the case, or be willing to part with a Clippard type player if necessary. But trading our only reliable catcher is not the answer.

Are you kidding? Give me a break. He's a rookie. Of course he's got a ways to go. But he's not an offensive juggernaut and he doesn't much figure to be. So he's a defensive catcher by definition.

There's a molina available next year- I don't see any good center fielders out there

Seriously, trading Ramos for Upton is a BAD TRADE. I will be absolutely LIVID if Rizzo makes this trade.

You don't have to be one or the other... and it's not like being unable to catch the ball is a problem rookies usually have. Not saying it's not fixable, but it's pretty significant.

I'm not even going to continue this line of banter. It's ridiculous. It has nothing to do with trading Ramos for Upton, which would be a bad trade.
