Why is that more bad? What does that even mean? Maya has cost nothing but money. He's not in the majors, there's no cap, how is it more bad than a starting catcher on an MLB team?

The Capps for Ramos trade was a great trade, no matter how much you want to minimize it. A closer. who had been non-tendered, then signed with no long term future, on a short term deal, for a high end prospect/ starting catcher is a great trade.

Other things he's done are not so great. As it is, he's only only had 1 trade deadline and 1 off season so far. He's done some good things and some not so good things. He gets an incomplete from me at this point.

Actually, he's a $6 million flop...and he signed Werth to a backloaded 7-year, $126 million contract...and Matt Stairs is still on the major league roster...and Garrett Mock is still on the 40-man roster...

He was a defector from Cuba, signing a player like that always involves a risk.  It's not like he was a pitcher at UVA and it's not like the Nats were the only team interested in him. His pitching didn't translate to MLB, it happens, so what.

No, not at all, not even a little bit. He's an international signing, sometimes they pan out, sometimes they don't. Happens ALL the time all over MLB. It certainly shouldn't be used as the keystone to indict a person's overall competency.

Every GM misses now and then. Maya had looked good in the WBC and going on that, since Maya wasn't pitching anywhere after his defection, Rizzo rolled the dice. It's a $6-8Million gaffe, we'll recover from it.
