I loved the Transformers when I was a kid and I love the Transformers now.

I'm 50/50 on this movie idea.  Its either going to be really awesome or its really going to bomb.  I don't think there will be any in between.  But you bet your @** I will be going to see it.

My only prayer is that they did not make Bumblebee into one of the new VWs.

VW wouldn't give the moviemakers license to use their vehicles in the movie.

so Bumblebee is a Camaro.

My thoughts exactly.  But, Steven Spielberg is heading it up.  He's got a pretty damn good track record.

For those of you familiar with these novels - Kiefer Sutherland is going to be Raistlin Majere and Lucy Lawless is going to be Goldmoon!   :D

Lots of new images coming out for this July 4th release, including this one:

The original voice actor for Prime is returning to do the voice of the Autobot leader and Hugo Weaving (Matrix, V for Vendetta) is the voice of my fav, Megatron.

I'm a big transformers fan, even have a nice sized collection of the old toys on my shelves.  I share some of the doubts that some have in a live-action movie, but I've resigned to the fact that this movie will not at all be anything like the show I used to watch.  Keeping that in mind, I think I will enjoy the movie.

What I'm happy about is that Transformers is back in mainstream news, and will perhaps create a new generation of fans.

With this movie coming out, coupled with the success of TMNT, a whole slew of other forgotten franchises are being re-made for the big screen.  A producer of Transformers has stated he will begin work on a live-action G.I. Joe movie with the possibility of Mark Wahlberg as Duke.  A Smurfs CGI movie is being set to be produced shortly.  Voltron, Speed Racer, Astro Boy, Battle of the Planets, and other old franchises are apparently in the works.
