Why can't this team win a game without stress? Is it just built in their DNA?

The crushed Matt Garza and had a commanding 8-0 lead at home where we dominate. Livo was cruising. What happened? How did we blow such a large lead?

Why must every game we play go down to the wire?

One of the worst losses in franchise history according to Charlie and Dave. :hang: I think for blown lead. They were not very clear.

Yes and I still can't comprehend what just happened. What happened to Livo? He was rolling and making it look easy and all of a sudden he couldn't buy an out.

Some of the other things were slightly more predictably like Burnett sucking, HRod choking, and Stairs failing.

But I am seriously baffled by Davey Johnson's decision making tonight. What was he thinking? Stairs over Nix? HRod for a second inning after he blew it in the 8th?

You know what's the worst part of this loss, NO ONE will be held accountable.  Tomorrow, it will be as if this complete and utter failure never happened.  There will be no punishment.  Everybody will be exactly as they are today.

There is no other team in baseball that would stand by bums like Stairs and Burnett after more than a half season worth of sustained suckiness. They would have been gone months ago on any other team.

Cut Stairs and Burnett. Bring up Antonelli and Bally. If Davey is desperate to have a lefty reliever, keep Detwiler in the pen, although I don't trust Detwiler. If they can't drop Burnett, trade him to Cleveland for Nick Johnson just because Nick Johnson used to be Nick Johnson. A real ballplayer.

I called him a clueless old man during the Angels series and I stand by it.  PHing Stairs in that situation would never be done by someone who wan't clueless especially when Nix hits right behind him.   Stairs then Nix is the actions of a clueless old man.

Yeah, thats a clueless act. He doesn't do this on a consistent basis though. Until he does, I will then call him clueless. I do not disagree that he has made many questionable calls though.

I'm more mad at Rizzo for keeping Stairs on the roster than giving Werth $126 million dollars.

Seriously.

Well Davey said he was trying to save some wear and tear in teh pen so that's why no Clipp tonight.

Whatever - if we come back and win tomorrow, it's all good.

Need to trade Coffey and Burnett for whatever is available.  Get a couple of low A arms for them who might turn into something in a few years.  Bring up Wang and Perez and put them in the pen.  Or Maya.  Or Romero.  Or bring up some young guys.

Not sure why they're still infatuated with Stairs, either.

So am I. Werth has the potential to come back and do something average. Stairs just sucks and is a waste of a seat.

WTF happened to Burnett.  It took him one pitch to give up a homer.

If someone in the stand spit on Stairs, it would be a waste of spit!

Saving the bullpen doesn't explain why he used Stairs!   Cora was a better option than Stairs!

He gave up TWO against Pittsburgh, guaranteeing a loss.

If Livo gets a third free limo from his drug dealer friends, he should be taken out and shot.  :pimp:

When Davey Johnson repeatedly expresses his confidence in Stairs it tells me two things:
1) Davey must be the idiot who advised Rizzo to get 43-year-old Stairs for $1 million in the first place, even though Stairs SUCKED in his limited role for San Diego last year.
2) Davey Johnson may be Joe Gibbs II, who feels more comfortable around old, washed up players, than with players who will help the team win.

The organization now has some players. It's not like they need to hang onto Burnett the way they clung to Bacsik and Chico and Bergmann and Redding and all the other roster fillers. They aren't loaded in AAA, but they have some guys. Antonelli could be a Hairston; Lombardozzi has only been in Syracuse for a few weeks, but he looks real.

Why Stairs? Why Burnett? If they have hopes for Burnett (why???), the DL him because he pitches like there is something wrong. He's lost the mental ability to pitch. Ankiel lost it. Chuck Knobloch lost the ability to throw to first. Years ago, Von McDaniel lost it. Von was Lindy McDaniel's brother, and both were talented young pitchers for the Cardinals. Von suddenly couldn't throw a ball normally, and was finished. Burnett is disabled by something.

After the hockey playoffs of the past few years (the only playoffs that any team in the area has sniffed in ages), this game seems like such mild suckitude the wailing is almost comical.

I'm going to the game tomorrow. I don't even know what to expect or how to react. I'm stunned right now. Thank goodness baseball is a game where we don't have to sit on this for a whole week.

Imagine being up 28-0 in football, then we blow it, and wind up having to think about that ALL WEEK.
