If this crap is allowed, why didn't they change the call at 1B that ruined the no-hitter last year?

You can absolutely change the call.  Yes you can.  The only calls you cannot argue and change are balls and strikes.

On what basis?  The umpire in position made the call one way, somebody across the field is going to overrule?  BS

I didn't say it was a good - just that it is.  You can't argue balls and strikes, anything else is debate-able.

If you looked at the replay, can you tell if he was tagged or not?
Exactly man. It looked like he tagged him on the foot but it was close. How can you overrule a play so close that was called emphatically out?

It's awesome that on what will likely be the most inspected Nats game since Strasburg's debut that McLaren got filmed telling each ump in the crew individually to go freak themselves. What a thing of beauty.

The Nats should protest and walk off the field.

You are wrong. Wrong wrong wrong.

How could the HP ump see that play? How can you change a judgement call? It's a bang bang play?

If you allow this crap to happen, it opens up a whole nother can of worms.

I don't know what the rule is there, but just because you don't agree doesn't make him wrong. He damn well may be right even if the umps totally freaked us on that one.

Good job Burnett

If he sees something that he thought was an improper call he can overrule.  It's not like it's NEVER happened before.

The assumption has to be that the ump at home plate saw a significant amount of air between Konerko and Morse's glove in order to reverse that call. That would be reasonable to change it given the position. It's just hard to believe it was that obvious from that distance and the angle of the home plate ump.

Not clearly. I'm watching the White Sox broadcast. They just showed a slow/closeup replay...it's hard to see. Morse might have gotten the tip of his glove on the runner's leg, but I couldn't see the pants flap or look like the glove had pressed them.

Maybe safe, but surely not clear from home plate in real-time.

I'm not wrong.  Wrong, wrong, wrong.  You can absolutely change a call if you think another member of your crew missed something.  That's why they discuss it.

You're an IDIOT.

I'm not saying the right call was made here, I'm just saying you can argue a call and have it overturned.

No, it was definitely NOT definitive.  Morse's glove was really close to Konerko's cleat as he was about a stride short of first.  Morse was on the ground but flailing the glove backwards towards Konerko.  It was not definitive, but he sure could have grazed or touched the shoe.
