I have been projecting a little bit recently and I was looking at our potential roster for NEXT year. I could see Moore and Brown as the #4 & 5 OF with Lombo and Tracy as the back up infielders.I think this is contingent upon ALRs'  option being exercised. Ive seen it as a mutual option or a team option and I am not sure which.

This would be barring season long injuries ( like Ramos this year and Werth) and trades.This gives us a true lefty ( Brown ) and Lombo as a switch hitter.

That slugging percentage makes him still valuable. That still translates to an isolated power of over .200.

Career he is:
   .252/.324/.461 vs LH
   .270/.340/.485 vs RH
This year he is:
   .238/.342/.571 vs LH in 76 PA's
   .256/.337/.489 vs RH in 205 PA's as of this moment on BR.

I've been thinking this as well. Laroche and Brown in exchange for a CF. Move Morse to 1B and let Moore play LF till Werth comes back. It'd be a good long term move but would hurt our offense in the near future.

Just hit his 18th homer.  Currently batting .304.  With Brad Eldridge going to Japan, his 18 homers is tied for #1 in the International League.

Ankiel has little trade value.  At this point, he's a defensive outfielder with occasional pop against righties.  He's DeWayne Wise, except instead of an ability to steal, he has the ability to drive a ball.  He might no even be DeWayne Wise.

That said, how would you use him?  Would you have him sit until there is an injury to Moore, Harper, Morse, or LaRoche?  Or would you sit Moore and Morse 1 out of every 3 starts v. RHP to give Brown some playing time?  If he's just riding the pine, then I might prefer Ankiel, who is the superior defender.  Let Morse and Moore get you the lead, then brign in Ankiel for the D.

Brown is playing himself into a trade chit, maybe a valuable one, with 6 years of team control and being optionable this year and next.  I'm not saying he's the next Josh Reddick, but that is what made a guy like Reddick very attractive to a low budget team.  Brown would be a great fit in Houston, for example, or maybe even KC.  Trade for Crow :) or Collins :az:

Why not keep him and trade Morse or LaRoche during the offseason?  Moore or Morse/LaRoche at 1B and Harper/Werth at the corner outfield spots and Corey Brown in CF.  Maybe bring in another guy to play the outfield if Brown flops or move Harper back to CF and Moore back to LF.

Or maybe they trade him and something for Wandy Rodriguez who could soak up some of Strasburg's innings this year and would fit in the rotation next year.  Not sure how resigning Jackson would fit in in that scenario.

Bring up Brown and release DeRosa.

Moore and Morse are not great out fielders. If Moore can hit (a LH Tyler Moore), then why complain? It might be nice to give Harper a rest now and then. Or go all-out platoon: Moore/LaRoche at 1B, Lombo/Espinosa 2B, Brown/Moore LF, sometimes Brown/Morse RF.

Then change things in about six weeks, when Werth plays again.

Oh, I agree. I figure this is the chance for Brown to shine, or not. I'd rather have Brown than DeRosa...unless DeRosa is a lot better than he has looked. I saw him play LF in Shea II early this year, and he looked like an older OF with ordinary-to-low speed. Might as well have an OF crew of Moore, Morse, Harper, Lombo, Bernadina, Brown, Ankiel.

When Moore mis-played a ball the other night, it struck me that Harper was the only good OF out there.

When Werth returns, a lot of things change.

Moore has made one mistake.  Honestly, the guy has played better than I thought he would (glove-wise).  Plus you can't take his bat out of the line-up.

Brown is trade bait or he can replace Ankiel/Bernadina as backup.
