  • Wow. Such warnings. Very baseball. Moderator Doge.
I have the student membership but you don't get streaming with that for me to even check it out.  I don't use Amazon enough to buy a Prime membership.

Amazon launched a Groupon style deal email today with no fanfare . . .

Also, MOG has gone free, works on Roku

Amazon unveils 7-inch Kindle Fire tablet, $99 e-ink Kindle Touch

Just preordered one- I actually think the smaller size vs ipad will be nice, and the hardware for the price is a great deal

"All prices stated above are for the "Special Offers" versions of the Kindle, which display ads while the readers are inactive. The WiFi-only Kindle Touch without ads is priced at $139, and the Kindle Touch 3G without ads is $189."

You mean I'm going to have to pay $40 extra to keep the sweet portraits of authors instead of ads? That kinda sucks.

Pre-ordered a Kindle Fire. $175 after a gift card and free shipping. Great deal! I'm really excited.

Anybody using services like goodreads.com and got the Kindle 2 syncing automatically? I am baffled why it isn't working and their support leaves a lot to be desired.

Wow, Amazon is a bunch of jerks.

Allentown is a craphole. Every company I have worked with there has had whip cracking, downsizing, and extract every last ounce of energy from the employees mentallity. I pity the people who live there.

I've got the kindle Keypad with ads-$99. Love it. Staying with mostly free books so far, although I did succumb to the NY Times Sunday Book Review subscription..

I have to imagine that leads to the purchase of reviewed books... You might want to check with your local library about borrowing books for kindle

Already did, ans yes, it's available. I'm limited because I don't use credit cards, so I have to buy gift cards and apply them to my account. Also keeps my expenses down.

The fire is awsome, prime video integration is smooth and the screen size is nice- like reading a paperback

Did you try it at the store or did yours come already? I tried the lending library today and got hunger games. I guess my fanboyism is justified.

after playing around with fire, I'm convinced iPad and other tablets are in for some hurt. It's not as fast or as smooth, but it plays video smoothly (both streaming and on the device), surfs (silk is actually pretty fast), and works well as a reader. Throw in prime integration and cloud integration (it actually works) and I can't see why you'd spend that much more for a bigger screen and a few apps not available on fire
