No, thanks. If I wanted to listen to some schmo from the sports bar blabbering about something he doesn't know squat about, I would go to the sports bar (or come to this board:~)) I'm looking for much more from my announcers. I want analysis, insight, entertainment, polish, etc. Dibble was none of those.

You didn't at LEAST think he was a funny guy? Like I said, it's all subjective, but the contrast between Dibble and Carpenter was great IMHO.

The funny part is that I usually like the funny announcers. I didn't think he was funny. Yes, I agree that FP and Carp are way too similiar. They would have done better to get a funny guy. But comedy is hard, as they say.

Sure he was funny, but FP is very professional and smart and I like that too. Also, I find FP funny.

i think FP has been awesome.  outside of amber, thorne/palmer, holliday/knight, FP is one of the better things about MASN.  well nothing can touch their commercials, haha.

I also appreciate Santangelo and the presence he brings, but I'll be damned if he says "get a pitch you can drive" one more time. Holy Moses dude!

Well I think she got promoted. I've seen her do their post game stuff with Dempsey.

Is he new(ish?)  I haven't heard any part of an O's broadcast for a couple of years, so I may be operating on old intel.

At least his second year. Used to do ESPN hockey before they dropped it.

Haha my good friend is an O's fan and made a comment on FP. It's night and day with us and them in that regard.

Can they please stop with the Adam LaRoche defense already? The idea of "so & so would/wouldn't have made that play" is stupid to the nth degree.

Adam LaRoche's glove is made of smiles and unicorns. Its greatness is too much to quantify.

His 25 HR career average is not too bad either. If he hits 20 HR or above this year and plays good defense, I think we've upgraded from Adam Dunn.

I disagree. But to each their own.

The defense has been noticeable, though - far more than I thought it would be.  He's been making a play or two a night that Dunn may or may not have been able to make.

Amber recently had a baby girl and wanted more time off to take care of her but she is still doing some work in the studio.

He made a nice catch in game 1 yesterday, and I had quite a conversation with the fans around me as to whether or not Dunn would /would not have made the play, and the overall futility of trying to even guess.

We will never know. Dunn might not ever get a start at first again and even if he gets a couple it would be very hard to compare the UZR of a DH to a first baseman. My eyeballs tell me LaRoche is a better first baseman, but I still don't think first base defense matters that much. All I know is that Rizzo didn't believe Dunn could be a first baseman in three years and most GMs didn't believe he could be one this year, and that is why he is DHing for the White Sox. The merrits of this can be debated up and down and day and night, but no answer will ever be known unless we can get to Earth 3 where Dunn is still the Nats first baseman and compare those results to how LaRoche does this year.
