Burnett signed through 2012
« on: December 23, 2010, 08:58:52 am »
With an option for 2013.  $1.3MM with $100K signign bonus, $2.4MM, and mutual option for 2013 ($3.5MM if Nats exercise, $250K buyout if they don't,  Burnett can opt out if Nats exercise but gives up the buyout). Per Kilgore.  Link to follow.

Terrific signing given the market for relievers and Burnett's effectiveness.

They have loved this guy from day one. Silly Hat remains a Nat! He must like DC, that's so reasonable.

Awesome move. One of the anchors of a potential powerhouse bullpen.

I like this move.  Thank goodness at least half of what we got back from Pittsburgh is working out...

One of the coolest guys on the team, a great move for the team and Sean.  Totally got a chuckle out of him when I told him my wife thinks he's hot.  Out of curiosity, anyone else notice that he signs with his right hand?

Seeing the lack of almost anything on the roster that has talent and is a lefty good move.

Good for us.

Great for him to get some stability. Seems like a good dude with a nice family.

But he signed for much cheaper than free agents are getting!  Granted, he's under team control, but he could have used the new signings as comps.

I like the comment in Kilgore's piece - he's a young Scott Downs.  Do you realize we probably have a better lefty in the pen than NYY, BOS, PHI, and the LAA?   Take that, Evil Empire, Just as Evil Empire, and you two wannabes.

I like him as the lefty closer. Why don't teams platoon closers? Oh yeah, most have worse bullpens than the Nats!

I know.  I was just bustin' hammonds' chops for insinuating that the F.O. actually shelled out good money.

Love the move. The Nats could have a top 3 pen next season.

Is there a team in baseball that wastes more money on it's bullpen than the Angels?

Anybody who doesn't think hammonds gives credit where credit is due hasn't been paying attention for the last 3 years.
