Winter leagues
« on: November 07, 2010, 08:44:12 pm »
I didn't see a thread on this, so....

And let me kick it off with the Danny Espinosa report from Puerto Rico: 0-5, 4Ks.

Chris Marerro is playing in the same league, 2-4 R today.

Wilson Ramos: 1-4, RBI

It has to be a hell of a lot easier for domestic players to play in PR than in the Dominican or Mexican leagues. US dollars, English language TV, being in the same country, it helps you feel at home.

Espinosa is garbage.  We need to find a FA for the middle infield soon.

Oh look, the bigot explicitly ignoring all reason to hate a hispanic player.  Solid guy for the board right there.  He's like assclown with a giant side of racism.

I find it funny that Potomac Cannons bans everyone who dares to reply to any of his posts with facts, but he doesn't ignore bglide/Eagleskins.

He's a coward. I would give him $100 to come meet me.

Heeeeell no.

As the extra backup MI paired with AlGo he fits.  Not really a starter at this point.

At this point in their careers, AlGo ~= Eckstein.  We don't need two of them.  Don't have enough room on the bench, among other things.  Plus I am always suspicious of any plan that involves David Eckstein moving closer to D.C.

Couple of interesting guys this offseason.

Peralta is pitching the Dominican.  He's had 3 single inning appearances so far.  1 H allowed, 0 BB, and 6 K.  Whatever he figured out last season seems like it just might stick.

Espinosa seems over his slow start in Puerto Rico.  Through 16 games he's now got a .310/.375/.535 line with 6 2B, 2 3B, and 2 HR (including 4-4 with 2B, 3B, and HR today).

Eury Perez has a solid .395/.425/.421 line so far in the Dominican.  He's also 8/10 in SB.

Ramos has a .280/.357/.420 line in the Puerto Rican league.

Nearly every pitcher has looked good.  Only one has a WHIP higher than 1.23 so far.

I don't know how to weigh stats in the DWL, but all good news (pretty much).

So Espinosa hit for the cycle today? You said 4-4 with a double, triple and HR, so I'm assuming the fourth hit was a single. Not really noteworthy, but still kind of cool if so.

And likewise, I'm curious what that final straw was with bglide. He could be an ass clown at times, but equally so he did contribute to discussion once in a rare while. Some of the personal attacks were becoming way too much, but hopefully a short suspension will teach him to shut the **** up and just talk baseball.

Yeppers, not just a cycle, but a reverse cycle. HR, 3B, 2B and then the single. Nice accomplishment for Espinosa.

He hit at every level until last season.  It shouldn't surprise if he puts up a league average or slightly better bat at C for his career.

Federal baseball:

It's actually 20 K's in the 4 starts.  Only 4 BB and 10 H.  Definitely a promising sign.  Hopefully he's back to his A game for ST.

Okay, let's get real ----Would anyone really be surprised if David Eckstein was on the Nats team next year - especially with his brother being the hitting coach?   I mean "REALLY".......

Questions about board policies should be directed to myself or Tom via PM, or at the very least asked in a relevant thread in the "suggestions" section.  Please keep this thread on-topic.
