Let's hope the game is rained out and the Braves lose so they'll win the division without the Nationals being on the field.

does no one care anymore, or is everyone just too depressed to talk about the fact that our field is overrun with the scourge anticipating their playoff berth

Charlie Slowes just mentioned that they've got champagne iced down, and plastic coverning at the ready, in the Phillies' clubhouse.

He also mentioned that the tarp is off the diamond and first pitch is expected to occur on time.

That is part of it.  The Brooklyn coaches are happy to see the rain coming.  The problem is that Pitt is leading 1-0 in the bottom of the 6th.  That would make it an official game win for Pittsburgh.  I have a copy on my office wall.

Wiki ... "Game Called Because of Rain", one Norman Rockwell baseball painting of many, appeared on the cover of The Saturday Evening Post published April 23, 1949.

Edit:  I recognized it because I probably saw it on the cover.   Though I was a mere child :)

Wow.

I hate the Phillies, and I hate their fans.

Werth would look nice in a Nats jersey, though!
