I guarantee if the Nationals offered Cliff Lee 6/$180m, he'd sign so fast the sparks from the pen would burn a hole in the contract. They won't of course but it's possible to overcome the "won't play for the Nationals" contention.

Yes they did. He wanted to sign longterm with his favorite team and he did so.
