Should have stayed horde on frostwolf.  Mannoroth's economy pisses me off.  I used to be able to sell bags for a good profit, now I can't sell 1 damn bag.  By the time I post some, I've already been undercut by 10 other auctions.

I checked before work and netherweave bags are going for under 8 gold.  I used to sell them for 16 gold all day.  Add to that the price of netherweave cloth is usually 7-8 gold or more, plus thread and posting fees, there's just no profit to be made there.

 I'm making solid money as a skinner! : \

I don't mind this server. A lot of people are buying my greens compared to others. Mining mats were kind of low compared to others but not sure how the higher levels looked. (I was leveling to fast to stay on par with mining as Petewarrior).

When you guys talk about gold and what not... do you actually make money off the game, like, in micro transactions that go towards your monthly bill... or does it only result in game cash for your character?

Game cash. Screw IRL money. We gets money to buy rides and gear and stuff! Yay!

Yeah, leather sells well, but you have to farm it.  It was much easier on Frostwolf to buy a crap ton of netherweave cloth at 5 gold per stack, some rune thread, make it in to bags, and sell for 15 gold or so, easy 10 gold profit on each bag.

Just game cash for the character to buy things like materials for professions, skill training, mounts, and all sorts of things off of the auction house.

So, basically, there's no way to make real money off the game?

Sure there is, but you have to be sneaky.

You can sell the gold or sell your account! Both are "bannable offenses" but many people do it anyway.

Also, you can't really make money off of any other game either.

The Shattering is on the PTR's. I just made some toons/copied my guy and I am currently playing it... Holy crap the zones man. Supposedly the shattering is coming to live servers in a week. If so, I think I may have to make a new guy... These zones are amazing.

The shattering?

Some crazy crap went down in stormwind last night.  All of a sudden it starts thunder and lightning and pouring rain, and all the shop owners/npcs tear ass out the front gates.  Then all of these elementals start attacking the city!  I had to get sandbags to help keep the city from flooding.

Yeah, thats part of the event system leading up to Cataclysm/The Shattering.

The Shattering is the last part of the world event which releases Deathwing ana all of the zones change. Deathwing will be flying around for a period and randomly attack a zone. If he attacks your zone, the sky turns red and he spits fire and everyone in that area dies.

Yeah, I got killed by the elementals in SW trying to fight them.

Maybe I should copy a toon into the PTR.  It just copies, right, I'd still have my toon on my main server?

God, these events leading up to a new expansion sound awesome. What an MMO can do with an insane amount of cash influx each month. I'm an old school MMO vet, started playing Everquest 11 years ago next month. Tried WoW, just wasn't "hardcore" enough. Currently playing EQ2. But damn, I'd kill to play an MMO with dynamic worldwide events such as the ones described in this thread. Only real parallel in a game I played was when my guild awoke Kerafyrm the Sleeper in EQ. I guess without the cash, you can't expect a game to have enough devs to code stuff like that in, but still, sounds awesome.

But, TBH, the reason WoW has the cash influx and money to pay the devs to do cool crap is because it's not as hardcore as some other MMOs.  It's much more accessible to the more mainstream gamer, and thus has attracted many more players.

Also, it was a bit of a pain in the ass, because I was in Stormwind to sell some junk and post some items in the auction house, but all the npcs were high tailing it out of dodge instead of doing their job

Yeah. You can do that or copy a premade 80... Do the Premade. It gives you, basically, all the best gear available and leveled up everything. It's pretty awesome. Then again, everyone is that good too. You can make up 4 of them.

Yeah, events like these are fun but you can easily expect never to see something so cool again unless its another major patch or another expansion. They do have monthly/holiday events but those are no where near as cool as what's happening now. Ex. For this past expansion ( 2 years ago ) it was based on an undead force coming to the world we play. It started off with random zombie creatures and such walking around. Then by the end of the event it was a zombie infection. People turned into the things and had the ability to change other people. It was pretty cool... Only last for like a few days though.

It is a fun game but very easy to play and not as in depth as some other ones.

Pat and I are discussing what we are gonna do when Cata/Shattering happens. I want to create a new toon but not sure which side. We might do Horde and go to the server my lock is on (but not abandon ours). Or we might just make horde on the current server.

Yeah, I want to send my 80 mage back to frostwolf and horde :?

It's just that on this server, things seem less active at the times I play.  On Frostwolf, alliance cities are always barren, but even at 3 am, Orgrimmar is bustling with activity.  At the same time on Mannoroth, there are like 3 people in Ironforge and 3 people in Stormwind.

Where did you send your lock?

Alliance out number horde. 16 k vs 10 k

I haven't been on there much, either. I was hoping to play with my friend but he hasn't been doing much except getting old dungeon achievements. I still think its to early to tell because maybe we could do some stuff at 85 but we'll see. Plus it seems like I will be leveling a new toon the majority of the time. (since I may have a friend coming back and trying to do raf)

I've thought about getting vanilla and making a new account and dual boxing, having the other toon on follow, just to get the RaF bonus

I really want a goblin though.

We should have stayed on frostwolf and horde the whole time.  Why did we go alliance?
