I'd rather see Floyd than Peavy, but I grew up in Severna Park.

I saw floyd back in his awful Philly days. Hence, I dislike him.

You Sir, are a liar. You hate him because he grew up next door to Mark Teixeira.

Tex has a dorkface, but luckily that's not catching.

Good, I thought the team had a chance against The Barber.

Blech. Chances of my staying home on Saturday are going up and up.

CBS and MLB.com are saying hudson won't be called up and peavy will start.

Apparently things have changed. Peavy has fluid in his shoulder and one of the Chicago beat reporters said Husdon was getting called up to spot start. His latest column states otherwise, however. (http://blogs.suntimes.com/whitesox/2010/06/peavy_has_fluid_in_the_shoulde.html) So I guess Peavy will pitch on Saturday.

No reason we shouldn't sweep the Sox.

I'll go so far as to agree to a win to the series. But Saturday? Martin's odds of winning the game for us certainly don't look very good. And a national tv broadcast on top of it all. We had Nats Park opening on ESPN, a Sunday night ESPN Cubs match in '05 (where Eischen broke his arm. I'll never forget that game as I was close enough that I heard the bone snap. Horrifying.) and a Saturday Fox game in '05... I'm sure I'm missing a couple, but this team so rarely gets a shot in the national spotlight. Such a shame it has to be Martin, if he stays consistent at least, for such a rare occurrence.

In brighter news, and given the threads topic, I can't wait until tomorrow night. Watching Strasburg pitch from the second row behind the Nats dugout is like having front row seats to the second coming, Christmas morning and a night with a super model all rolled into one. Hell, it's even better than that.

Of course he has fluid in his shoulder, we all have fluid in our shoulders, it's called blood. Part of the circulatory system.

According to the diagram, we have both blue blood (usually found in rich people) and red blood (normally only found in John Wayne or Clint Eastwood)

So Strasburg is scheduled to pitch every '3' and '8' day right? What happens after the all star break? Does it change or stay the same? I'm trying to schedule a game in advance so I can get an idea. Thanks!

who knows?  I wouldn't plan that far out, there's always the chance of a dead arm, extra day of rest, etc.

Everything I can find online says Strasburg is throwing 7/3 and 7/9.   Is he getting the extra day off next week or is he throwing 7/8 on "normal" rest?

http://joeposnanski.com/JoeBlog/2010/06/30/gibson/#more-3661

I was reading this and half way through I started to think about the pure anger and rage on Strasburg's face as the 7th inning unfolded in front of him on Monday night. I don't think he is the type of guy to blame the team and was probably mad at himself for giving up a walk and a single. We saw how he buckled down in his first start after the homer and we have heard about his competitive nature. We have seen him go inside to back hitters off the plate and stare at them afterwards. He has learned something in each of his starts and in his last two starts he hasn't had his best stuff. I think Saturday's game is going to be something to watch. Strasburg has got ot be eager to get back out on that mound and show what he can do.

The last thing I read was that Strasburg pitches on the 3rd and then on the 9th, not the 8th.  I forget why he's getting the extra day.

Stras is pitching on the 9th.  With ticket sales starting to lag a bit this moves his last pre-ASG start to a Friday night when they should be able to sell out.  This also burns everyone who bought tickets for 7/8 based on the original announcement that he'd stay on a five day schedule until the break.

This is how I saw it. They don't care about the fans as long as their pockets get filled.
