Strasburg's the best I've seen since I first watched Verlander pitch. Definitely a top 5 pitcher in the world right now. All of his pitches are filthy.

the more i watch strasburg, the more i realize how good his offspeed stuff is developing.  everyone thinks his fastball is what makes him what he is ... his other stuff is good too.  incredible.

his curve/slurve/whatever you call it is AMAZING

it's just totally knee-buckling

he's going to be a ridiculous pitcher, even at the big league level

I'm so excited

His arsenal really reminds me of that of Ubaldo Jimenez right now, and we're all seeing how Jimenez is doing.

Strasburg could easily be in the CY top 3 next year barring injury.

The thing that gets me most excited about his potential is that he obviously KNOWS how to pitch. He doesn't just rely on his stuff to get by. He knows how to work hitters and what to throw in situations. The guy has it all.

Yeah, you can tell by the pitch counts.  He strikes the perfect balance between getting K's and going for the grounders and lazy flyballs.

I haven't gotten to watch the recording yet (trying to troubleshoot my other DVR), but I read one report that mentioned that Strasburg didn't bat due to the DH rule. Last Friday he did bat. How do they determine whether the DH rule is used in the minors?

exactly!  I only saw the highlights, but it looked like he got several called strike 3's on fastballs that were low and on the inside edge of the plate, it's like he's a combination of Roger Clemens power and Greg Maddux's control.

The curveball is simply unhittable.

"It was everything everyone said it would be, it was tough," Tides catcher Adam Donachie said. "He's got command of every pitch. You can't go up there just looking for one pitch. You can sit on one pitch, but he can mix it up pretty well. There's nothing more you can say about him."

he's not a "thrower" who needs to learn how to pitch.  He's a pitcher who trying to be a BETTER pitcher.  BIG Difference!!

I can't wait to see him and someone like Livan get together and talk about things like establishing the ump's strike zones and how to work 'em.

I just have to post that that was the worst singing of the National Anthem I have ever been pained to listen to.

Hello stranger!  How's life as a father and retired message board weenie?

Strasburg and Livo on consecutive days would be cruel.  Strasburg's breaking stuff is faster than Livo's fastball

Yeah, I was posting the same thing somewhere. Strasburg the day after Livan would be tough on hitters.
