It also helps if they can pitch effectively for more than four starts before getting injured.

True. But a little bit of a pissy attitude isn't necessarily a bad thing.

:( :( :(

I can't bring myself to watch the video.

I watched it.  What a beautiful baby!  I'll warn you, it was heartbreaking.  The Corderos will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Look Wil is a great guy - any time they aren't playing the Nats I hope he hits .400.

Richard Justice on MLBNetwork just said that he thought Matt Capps is the current closer most likely to break the save record.  His thinking was that guys like Brian Wilson and Papelbon are not efficient enough, but Capps, who he says has appeared in 80 games and was the closer with the fewest pitches per inning last year, can do it.

Of course, Joe Nathan closes in Minnesota as soon as he is healthy.

Also, while he is a former expo and not a former Nat, Scott Downs just signed a 3 year, $15MM contract with the Angels.

Could have been a great pick-up for the Nats.

The contract is for age 35 - 37.  I think he's been terrific.  I have a bit of worry about going 3 years for a 35 year old, but he could be like Darren Oliver.  I question the $15MM, but he's been between 1 and 1.5 WAR every year for Jays except 2006.  If they think he will last, then it is a good signing for quality to fill a need.  The Angels have to sign another Type A now.

they are putting the band back together, too bad Nieves and Olsen are signed already.  Maybe they'll get Guzman.

There are a lot of things I like about Kearns. One of which is he plays for another team.
