I realize he was on the final vote, but that isn't a guarantee, is it? Obviously they weren't going to have two Nats on the final vote... But I looked at Gonzalez's season stats, and unfortunately it does look like he's a near sure thing. There is always hope until they announce it. The season Willingham has had, despite not having a high average, all his other numbers particularly OBP... I really feel he got shafted big time is year. He deserved it. But you'll obviously, in all likelihood, be correct, unfortunately. I'm just too much of a homer to accept reality sometimes.
On another topic... Cory Aldridge for the Angels got his first career hit tonight. Big deal? He made his MLB debut in 2001. I cannot believe there have been many, if any in the modern era, that were a position player/not a pitcher and went ten seasons between their debut and first hit.
