And the Braves are going down in a heap in Arizona, 7-1 in the 5th.

Braves lose 7-4 so we pick up a half game on both Phillies & Braves.

Why are you so worried about the Braves and Phillies? We aren't catching up to them. We should focus on the Mets and Marlins so that we won't finish in last place again.

I'm not "so worried" about the Braves and Phillies.  The Braves and Phillies (and Marlins and Mets) losing are good things, in and of themselves.  I'll always be happy when any of those four teams lose.

Next, I'm not ready or willing to write this team off in early June!  And as long as the NL East is the muddled mess it is now, that just give me more hope and further delays the point where I'll write this team off.

Why are you so worried about where the team places in the standings if they aren't going to finish first or win the Wild Card?

The Phillies need to lose a lot and miss the playoffs.

I did but found out a few weeks ago that he wasn't...

This attitude needs to be dead and buried. Root for the team lower in the standings to win. 3 games under five hundred means nothing after a reasonable win streak.

I'm not going to say anything, because my fantasy team has Strasburg on it.

I'm in a roto format, so I'm still happy with the 1.000 WHIP and 3.81 ERA.  To tell you hwo ridiculaously good he's been, he almost doubled his ERs last night (5 out of 11 for the season).  On the bright side, he may have cost you last night, but it may be better to be have one blow up and help you win 8 other weeks.

Serves Valentine right for not prepping for an interview, allegedly. He might end up managing the Baltimore Terribles instead of the DC Stephen Strasburgs.

In AAA, Aroldis Chapman has had 10 plate appearances.
1 walk
5 strikeouts
4 hits (3 singles and a double)
0 balls in play which became outs (or errors, or sacrifices)

I think this redefines True Three Outcome Player.

I have Strasburg and Thornton.  Have no idea how that's going to balance itself out.

Its a final in interleague play:  White Sox 10, Cubs 5.  God, how pathetic am I when the highlight of my summer is a practically meaningless victory over a team in the other league?

It's hilarious listening to Thom Brennaman.  He reminds me of that Indians announcer who endlessly naged about the team, but he does it every time someone on the Reds does something stupid.

So, the Marlins have announced they're going to have "backstop aquariums."

Quote
This just in: two salt-water aquariums will serve as the home plate backstop in the Marlins ballpark.

The "backstop aquariums" will flank the two sides of home plate. So, like, you can watch the fish when you're not washing the Fish. We're told the material used for the see-through paneling is the same type of stuff used in bullet-proof glass. Still, you have to wonder what the unexpected impact of a Stephen Strasburg fastball will do to the fish.

:lmao:

I personally think it's pretty cool.

^That's going to be interesting.

Did anyone happen to see what happened to Lance Berkman against the Yankees? :lmao:

He was furious that he was on the wrong end of that call.  What goes around, comes around, jackass!

I was just coming in to post this.  They mentioned (and showed) it in today's game.

It was much less of a swing against the YANKEES than it was against the Natinals and he was called out against the YANKEES, not against the Natinals.   :?
