Definitely. Bruney seems to be on the right track, and I think Clippard was OK as well. If we can get Capps and Burnett up to speed, our bullpen could be decent.

Looks like you responded to the wrong post. But I think the end result is the same. The question was if he got another start, does that mean he is coming north with the big club, and the answer was no. Whether or not he got another start in major or minor league camp really didn't matter anyway. He was going to start the season in the minors.

true, my thought was that after last night's start they would want to get the rotation ready, so there's really nothing more to gain by having him make another start if he's not going to make the club.  That's why they made a decision this morning.  From here on out it's time to focus on the guys who actually will be on the 25-man.

With a 97-100mph heater, when a pro hitter gets good contact, no way that it stays in play. He's a 3 outcome pitcher: K, groundout, HR.

Right. They need to get the others as much work as possible. There was a chance that they would still schedule a start against big-league pitching if they had a guys ready who can finish against other competition, but that's really not necessary. McCatty's concern that he may not be challenged in the minors seems unnecessary. He will be challenged and given ample opportunity to work on things regardless of where he plays. Even if he has games where he isn't hit hard, the other players in the field will mess up at times and he'll have to deal with baserunners and working from the stretch. Most important is for him to get acclimated to the faster game, the routine, the fielding and hitting side of things. He can do that anywhere. And the minor league games will be more competitive than some of the ST games he's dealt with.

That gives the 8 million dollar pariah a K and an E in 1.5 innings.  He can't field, can't hit 2nd in the lineup, and is in the way of a guy with talent.  Make him go away.

I think they'll be 4-5 with Martin the long reliever to start.  Any combination of the three wouldn't bother me at this point.

Eh, I doubt that factors in too much.  I think Mock has this mythical, hyped-up fastball that really isn't as great as everyone (read: scouts/management within this org.) thinks.

Mock had a BB and HR and nothing else negative so far today.

Morse came into today at .250/.300/.500 and promptly GIDP.  Not exactly killing the ball but he's done enough that I think he deserves a shot at RF.
