Adam Kennedy will be the everyday second baseman for the Nationals. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

I will avatar bet someone that either a starting pitcher or middle infielder will be obtained before opening day.
Hudson-esque, one might say. Rumor was they had an offer to Kennedy contingent on not getting Hudson already.

What up now?

First time I've ever seen a player signed at 1AM.

He's probably a 7 or 8 hole hitter... but I could just as easily see him hitting second next year for the Nats.

I'd also like to point out that most of his fielding crappiness last year took place at 3B (and most of that comes from the errors he committed while playing 3rd) and not at 2B. Lets hope he can make a successful return to 2B this year!

Great news.  Id like to see Guzman put up decent numbers and then get traded for prospects and for ID to get a spot.

Okay, I was upset yesterday. Mighty impressive how fast they made this signing after Hudson went to the Twins. Props to Rizzo.

He was their 2nd choice, so I guess it was a matter of autodial.

I still remember the great defensive play he made against us when he played as a cardinal and that ended up being the difference in the game.

Because we got rejected and ended up calling the fat girl at 1:00am?

If Kennedy can pick up his defense, he will be ok, but again, this is typical of the Nationals.  We seems to enjoy sloppy seconds and being a second class citizen of baseball.

Hondo can crawl back into his hole now.

Nats needed an upgrade at 2B.

So how many wins does that "upgrade" give us?

I am actually happy with the signing, although I am disappointed in that this means Guzman will be at SS...

I don't think Guzman will be SS for long. I think Desmond might force the issue.
