he may be really screwed

So far, authorities have not been able to confirm that the guns were licensed in any jurisdiction, said law enforcement sources. The penalty for possessing unlicensed firearms is up to five years in prison for each offense.

Quote
In 2003, Arenas was arrested in California after a traffic stop. Police said they found a .40-caliber handgun hidden beneath a bag in his vehicle. Arenas was a free agent at the time and had a gun license in Arizona, where he went to college, but not California.

He later pleaded no contest to misdemeanor gun charges.

I don't know which would be worse, lying about them being licensed in VA or having a prior for the same thing?

Note: That's five years for each offense. Four (4) guns X 5 years equals 20 years. I doubt that will be the sentence, but we will see if DC stands by their law.........especially for a "superstar".....    8)

DC has a council and is overseen by Congress. It doesn't have those rights. No voting representation in Congress. Same representation as Puerto Rico or
Guam until the Constitution was amended to give them electoral votes.

DC prisoners used to serve in Lorton, but people wanted them further away from their fancy shmancy houses, so now they do time in federal prison far from home.

What else are you asking about? DC has National Guard, for instance.

Let's say someone is sued over a civil dispute. Usually those type of things go to the state courts.

This team makes me sick.  Way to throw your biggest star completely under a bus.  This guy has brought money and success to this pathetic team, makes a mistake, and now you go to the Verizon Center and cannot find a Gilbert Arenas bobble head.

If you bought season tickets from the ad that said "Watch Gilbert and the Wizards all season" can you get a refund?

It's Arenas' fault.

The Wizards are just acting accordingly.

This team is a lot easier to root for with that scumbag off the team. Last night's win was the most memorable of the season for me other than the Opener in Dallas.

I agree he is to blame, but the Wiz could say "we support Gilbert in this time, agree with the league, blah blah blah" Instead they say "we are disgusted, unacceptable" and remove jerseys, banners, posters.  I bet they don't remove any jersey or ticket revenue they get from Gilbert.

It's bullcrap that David Stern lets his emotions get in the way of making a decision.  If your gonna suspend him do it when he admitted to having guns not after he calls you "mean".

Sick of hearing the media talk about the name change from Bullets to Wizards.   Gilbert's gun was unloaded so it doesn't freaking matter.

Well, if they remove his jerseys, bobbleheads and the like, it seems to be they are in fact removing any revenue from Arenas.  They also obviously get nothing in terms of ticket revenue from a suspended player.  And, you can't seriously argue that for the last two years, Arenas has been earning his freight.   Au contraire, he's been a greatly depreciated asset, and now no asset at all.

Why in the world should the Wizards support Gilbert? He is an idiot. He endangered players, employees, and fans by leaving guns in his locker. Those are not even locked like gym lockers. Fire his ass. They are good and rid of him. They are right to be disgusted. He's disgusting.

Disagree with everything else, but agreed with this. Definitely true...

Get rid of Gilbert, Caron, and Antawn. Draft Derrick Favors. A core of Favors+Durant+Young+Blatche+few other young players has a shot of winning a title in the future.

Wait how do you figure in Durant there? Apparently he loves OKC, and they can offer him an extra year and more $ than any other team.

I've read rumors saying that we might trade Caron to the Clippers for Camby (expiring contract) and Jamison to the Cavs.

I hope we trade Stevenson, too.

I've heard Jamison for Ilgauskas, and then they waive Ilgauskas and he rejoins the Cavs after 30 days.

The reason I said their own equipment is to make sure people understood that some people carry fire arms as part of their jobs. Police & Military use issued equipment.

Well, here's what you said.

Who doesn't get fired for bringing their guns to work?

Anyway, police also nearly always carry their own weapon as backup.  My brother carries a 9mm in a holster in the small of his back.  And when they are off-duty, most carry their own weapon then as well, as they are more easily concealed.

Your brother would be fired in DC for carrying a non-issued weapon on the job.

Interesting, I didn't know that.  But he works in PG anyway.
