thomloverro: Gilbert Arenas needs to be sat down now. He is an embarrassment to the Wizards organization, its fans and the city. Today. Suspended. Gone.

Quote
thomloverro: Arenas is an infant, and anyone who gloried this clown in this town for the past few years is an infant as well for such poor judgement.

Lovero is a jerk. Fans like the players on their team. He needs to get off his high horse.

Good for Stern. Next step is voiding his contract and suspending Crittendon.

Pretty sure loverro was one of the "infants" that was glorifying Arenas (along with everyone else) back in the day. Loverro is an insufferable sanctimonious sack of gas. Just STFU Thom, you're a bore on every level.

“We fully endorse the decision of the NBA to indefinitely suspend Gilbert Arenas. Strictly legal issues aside, Gilbert’s recent behavior and statements, including his actions and statements last night in Philadelphia, are unacceptable. Some of our other players appeared to find Gilbert’s behavior in Philadelphia amusing. This is also unacceptable. Under Abe Pollin’s leadership, our organization never tolerated such behavior, and we have no intention of ever doing so.”

Ernie Grunfeld, President, Washington Wizards
Irene Pollin, Principal Owner, Washington Sports and Entertainment (WSE)
Robert Pollin, Chief Executive Officer, WSE
James Pollin, President, WSE

Stern's statement indicated there's a chance Arenas could be banished from the league

Quote
"The possession of firearms by an NBA player in an NBA arena is a matter of the utmost concern to us. I initially thought it prudent to refrain from taking immediate action because of the pendency of a criminal investigation involving the office of the United States Attorney for the District of Columbia and the Metropolitan Police Department, and the consideration of this matter by a grand jury sitting in the District of Columbia. For the same reason, I directed the Wizards to refrain from taking any action. Wizards personnel continue to be interviewed by law enforcement authorities, some are scheduled for appearance before the grand jury and the investigation is proceeding with the intensity that one would expect for such a serious incident."

"Although it is clear that the actions of Mr. Arenas will ultimately result in a substantial suspension, and perhaps worse, his ongoing conduct has led me to conclude that he is not currently fit to take the court in an NBA game. Accordingly, I am suspending Mr. Arenas indefinitely, without pay, effective immediately pending the completion of the investigation by the NBA."

The Wizards can get out of his contract for this sort of thing, which I imagine they will do ASAP.

Stern's statement indicated there's a chance Arenas could be banished from the league, he said something along the lines of "we knew there would be a suspension, or worse".

He could be headed for a federal pen. Not sure I agree with that - but bringing a gun to work should be grounds for termination in most jobs.

I don't think he will be banished from the league for good but he should definitely be suspended for the rest of this season and maybe some of next.

The Wizards should definitely void his deal. Would create a ton of cap space for now and the future.

Until that statement came out, I was going to ask for a refund on my late season tickets. I'm going to wait to see if they institute common sense guidelines for the players.

Glad to hear this. Next step is DC Law Enforcement to take action against Arenas.  It anybody watched the interview with Arenas after the game last night.............(which is the only interview, in a number of years, where I was yelling at my TV like a demented loon), Arenas showed that he just does not get it. He thinks he walks on water and can do whatever he wants..............he needs to be hit over the head with a 2 X 4, with a dose of the real world.

Since the transition of the Wizards to the Ted Leonsis ownership is still under negotiations, I am glad the Pollin family strongly stepped in and made a strong statement that accurately demonstrates the integrity, crediability, and standards, that have been the Wizards organization/business under the late Abe Pollin's leadership.

Arenas was begging Stern to suspend him. Maybe he ought to ask Michael Jordan how funny this is.

It also came as new details emerged about the locker-room confrontation between Arenas and Javaris Crittenton, a Wizards teammate, on Dec. 21 that suggest a potentially far more volatile incident than was originally reported by Arenas to team officials.

The two players had been arguing during a card game on the Wizards' flight back from Phoenix Dec. 19, and the dispute spilled into the team locker room at Verizon Center before practice two days later. Arenas has acknowledged bringing his handguns to the arena and displaying them in the locker room that morning in what he maintained was a playful gesture aimed at his teammate.

According to two first-hand accounts of the confrontation, Crittenton responded to Arenas's action -- which included laying the four unloaded weapons in Crittenton's cubicle with a note that read, "Pick One" -- by brandishing his own firearm, loading the gun and chambering a round.

Two of the five people in the room that morning, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said Arenas had originally not disclosed Crittenton's action to protect the little-used guard from prosecution and had told Crittenton he would assume full responsibility for the actions of both players that day.

and of course crittenton will get zero criticism about this because he doesnt have a 111m contract.

No. If it's true, that's a host of felonies. He should go to jail and be out of sports for good if it's true.
