Harper 2/3 with 2 Doubles, Run, Walk, and 2 outfield assists tonight in Hagerstown.
I was there last night with some family. We were in the 4th row, halfway between directly behind home plate and the Suns dugout. A few observations. First, one of the doubles was just a soaring fly ball to left center, and probably would have been a HR a lot of places, including major league parks, but it bounced off a really high sign (ad) that serves as the wall in that part of the park. Harper played under control, confident, and looked loose with his teammates the whole night. My favorite play by him was a defensive one, though. A ball was hit down the right field line and Harper ran over to pick it up. The runner was flying around second and heading for third. So I was hoping to see Harper field it cleanly and and maybe make a strong throw. Suddenly, this bullet comes in from the right field corner, bounces once, and lands in the third baseman's glove. The runner is out. It was a
perfect throw

(which I was so excited about I yelled "That was a perfect throw!" about 5 times). He certainly has the tools and I'm sure the work ethic to be a fine defensive outfielder in the majors, given enough seasoning in the minors.
Another thing I remember is once in the later innings, there were two outs, the Suns were up, and Harper was the 3rd or 4th batter scheduled after the player batting. I saw Harper, literally about 15 feet away from me on the top step of the dugout, with his batting helmet on and his bat in his hands, eager to bat. I think two guys got on base, but the next batter made the last out. Before Harper headed out to the field, I thought I saw a grimace of disappointment on his face, like he was really wanting to bat. It seems like Harper's always eager, he just exudes that love of the game. It's great to see that.
