There are simpler schemes for Windows but you have to change the keyboard layout to US-International to enable them.

Hey sportsfan why don't you just use US-international keyboard layout?  It's a lot easier and you wouldn't have to use alt codes.

it's not like I have to type in spanish a whole lot or I probably would. took 5 years of it in high school but not in college
