Fortunately, to make myself feel better, I'm going to throw a big party on Draft Day next year.

Considering we play a lot of good teams the rest away and the fact that we suck against good teams we will comfortably finish with the worst record. probably by 5-6 games.

At least they are in a tailspin still. The Nats have already crashed and burned. We are currently sifting through the wreckage and trying to identify the bodies.

Meh, we're pretty close to 500 post ASG. Obviously not as good recently, but better than the first half certainly.

Actually...every team left on KC's schedule except for the 3 game set they start tonight with Oakland, is still in a pennant race of some sort...

We can't make that claim.

Actually I need to amend, the Royals have 3 vs. Cleveland who'd decidedly out of the race and the White Sox who just raised the white flag. So, I guess the schedules are about the same...

True, but 5.5 games over 29-30 remaining is a challenge. Especially if you assume that the Royals will likely get 5-6 for Greinke games which tip the scales slightly in their favor

As optimistic as I was, without Nyjer this team won't break out of the cellar.
I just hope they don't take Bryce Harper.

The problem with not taking Harper is that, today, the #2-whatever guys are not on the same level as Harper.

The next best bat is likely college catcher Yasmani Grandal who is more a #15-20 guy

After that it is a slew of arms college and a HS

He's an arrogant tool, who is probably no where near as good, as his ego thinks he is.
I can see this douche holding out if he doesn't make big bucks. He also is years away.. We need help now, not 5 years from now.

Totally agree with Nyjer this was a whole different team, without I can't see them climbing out the cellar.

How about Christian Colon I've read various good reports on his make-up and team leadership skills. Plus he plays a premium position. Do you think he is in top 5 consideration for next year? Still I think Rizzo can pull it off again and get B. Harper in here for around 10 mil.

Drafting for need in MLB draft = recipe for failure.

Take the best player available is always the best course of action

Colon isn't a top 10 guy IMO and I don't think he'll stick at SS moving forward.

The only bat aside from Harper that intrigues me is Arkansas 3B Zack Cox. He's a draft eligible sophomore and he might be a top 10 guy if he builds on his Cape Cod performance
