Thank you, Berkeley. Suddenly I remember why I'm a Nationals fan.
I didn't have that in mind at all. In fact, now that I think about it, a shotgun that shoots carrots would be more effective.
Or a cannonteloupe.

i just want to say that despite dcfan's assertions, this team absolutely SHOULD NOT be this bad, based on talent. wtf is going on and how to fix it, is beyond me though.

Hiring a rookie manager and GM on the cheap and going after castoffs and rejects is usually a recipe for complete and utter failure.

So I guess every series we must make one of the opposing players look like a future HoF'er

We'll probably give up an insurance run here and then score in the 9th only to lose by 1.

There's something about our shared institution of higher learning that fosters this kind of sense of humor, PA. I was just thinking: wouldn't it be cool to have a bananazooka? It's a bazooka that shoots bananas!

PS I have my freebie Martel tshirt on.

No problem Houston. Looking at her takes some of the pain of losing away.

you know....i like mbeane's convention of referring to the players with first/last initial and number. much better than inventing crappy nicknames like d-cab and l-mill and m-act. i think we should adopt this as WNFF forum etiquette.

Before the game, the Nationals were in the middle or top 33% of most MLB 2009 hitting statistics, except we were near the bottom on home runs.  Our pitching was 2nd worst in almost every category.  This is a minor league pitching rotation, with the exception of Cabrera, who might not make it in Single A minor leagues.

other crappy teams like Seattle, Baltimore, Pittsburgh and San Diego are having solid solid starts to their season. not the Nats though. :bang:

no, freak the unclutch offense. this game is on them. I'm not going to blame the pitching staff for giving up 4 runs in 8 innings.

Nick running us out of a potential big inning was costly.

Awesome!

FWIW we now have a literary sex magazine, and their survey found that Martel no longer has 5% more sex. But Hanszen does.

The guy got freaking rattled and we all saw it. Both after he let up the homerun and after the umps screwed with him. Offense is to blame to but Lannan didn't help himself any.

whatever. scoring 3 runs is not going to win you many games. not freaking good enough.

I blame it on Time Lincoln and his meddling with the time/space continuum.

There's that insurance run. I swear...it's almost like this team sticks to a script each night. Is baseball fake?

We've never had an economic situation like the present make free agents such a bargain. It was a golden opportunity and one that likely won't be repeated anytime soon. The Lerners screwed the pooch yet again.
