Modern Family started back up last night!

Loved it, as usual.

Also, aging Lilly about 3-4 years over the course of the break was a good idea. Her character really adds something to the show, now.

Ted Haggard will swap wives with Gary Busey on reality show
By Lisa de Moraes

Ted Haggard, the former megachurch pastor who fell from grace amid a sex scandal, stands with his wife Gayle. (Ed Andrieski - AP) Evangelical pastor Ted Haggard has agreed to star in the new, celebrity version of ABC’s reality-TV series “Wife Swap.”

He’s going to swap wives with Gary Busey.

Seriously. You can’t make this stuff up.

ABC confirmed Haggard had been cast in the celebrity version of its long-running “Wife Swap” show in which people, well, swap wives, but only for a relatively short period of time. Tension and hilarity ensue, some tears are shed, and a good time is had by all.

Haggard, who founded the New Life Church in Colorado Spring, Colo., went on to become president of the National Association of Evangelicals. He was forced to resign in 2006 when it came to light he’d bought crystal meth from a male prostitute with whom he’d had sex.

Through it all, Haggard has remained married to his wife, Gayle.

After two years of silence following the ’06 revelation, the former religious bigwig gave his first interview to House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi’s daughter — celeb-documentarian Alexandra — for an HBO documentary called “The Trials of Ted Haggard.”

Haggard came to Winter TV Press Tour 2009 to talk about the documentary, but tippy-toed around every question he was asked about homosexuality. He told GQ magazine this year that if he were younger, he’d probably identify himself as bisexual.

Busey, meanwhile, is a born-again Christian and professional reality-TV-series “celebrity.” Busey’s appeared on “Celebrity Rehab” and “Celebrity Apprentice.” It’s unclear whether the “wife” he’ll be swapping for Gayle Haggard is his girlfriend Steffanie Sampson, who is the mother of his infant son.

ABC had already announced that “Celebrity Wife Swap” would feature Carnie Wilson, Tracey Gold, Flavor Flav, and Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snyder.

Watched Person of Interest. Wasn't bad, but I missed the beginning so it took a bit to catch on.

The Office had some great one liners tonight.

I like how the new manager, i.e. who took Michael's job, handled things the first week.

Wait... even after the season premiere, the identity of Steve Carell's replacement is still a secret?

It aired tonight. Don't want to spoil it for anyone that watched the game and missed the show.

Gotcha. I don't actually watch the show, so I wiki'd it. Interesting.

I was hoping someone else would have been given the gig.  Oh well. It was a pretty good episode.

I laughed the loudest when Dwight sprayed her with the fire extinguisher.  :lmao:

Warning: To those who want to see the new The Office but haven't: this spoiler tag ACTUALLY CONTAINS A SPOILER

Heh. When I saw that they hadn't brought in a new actor to replace Steve Carell, just to replace Kathy Bates, I thought, "PWMTOAC"

LOL.  I didn't think that.  I thought having Darrel take over as the new manager had some serious potential.  The new James Spader role seems to work pretty well, though.  Wonder how prominent he will be in the future.

Toby leaving the lunch because it didn't feel right to be a "winner" was the moment of the show for me. Or Andy's "keep your chins up, Pam" line. Both were great. I liked the Andy wasn't a complete fool like Michael was. Feels fresh.

Probably my favorite moment, other than Dwight with the fire extinguisher to Angela while she was planking in the men's room, was right after Spader told them that everyone back at the office were losers and Dwight and Kevin were doing the exploding fist pound right in front of him and he sits back realizing what he'd just said.  Oh, and Dwight's "planking is dangerous" rampage was great, too.  Lots of good, little subtle moments tonight.

I thought it was pretty good. It has promise. I'm hoping that it gets a little more philospohical or sci-fi or something. If it just a vigilante justice show, I'm not sure I'm in for the long haul, but I did like the dark twist at the end....

yeah, it was kind of lame.  I don't like Andy as the new manager and Spader's schtick is getting old already.  I did chuckle at the explanation that Robert talked Joe out of her own job

Maybe once Jim Carey gets back from the finger lakes they will work him into the show.

not sure this belongs in this thread, but there is "howard TV"

Howard Stern's interview with Jonah Hill on Wednesday was absolutely awesome, especially the puff daddy stories and his encounter with Dustin Hoffman.  Funniest part though was at the end when Howard asked Hill if he had any outrageous statements he wanted to make about the 9/11 attacks (Tony Bennett said basically the U.S. got what it deserved on Tuesday's show).

teaser:

He looks like he's lost some weight.  Thinner in the face.  Also, when you're a big guy like he is, it can't be comfortable to sit cross legged.

Since he's a big guy, I don't see why he'd have any problem dropping 5 pounds in 10 minutes to take some weight off his legs.

Skinny folk do it all the time.

he said 40 lbs.  There's a great point of discussion around how women reacted to him after superbad came out.  he said a way he was annoyed because women generally avoided him but then once he became famous they were all over him and he resented them for it.

Sounds about right.
