That's okay. My photo wasn't an insult either. It's just for when a Dunn discussion is going on and we need Hammonds because everyone knows his "obsession" to slobber over Adam Dunn. 8)

Now I wish I had added that train wreck smiley so I could use it to sum up this still-born thread.

I still don't know where you all think my Dunn obsession comes from?  It doesn't bother me at all, I think it's funny.  I mean fault me for wanting a better team.  Fault me for acknowledging our FO said they wanted to get a slugger and that there is one available.

I made my point and drove it home.  It wasn't to the level of AZ.  I already said if we get Dunn, cool, we'll have a proven home run hitter.  If we don't, it's not the end of the world, but it's going to be funny to see another season of Langerhans/Casto at 1B.

I don't think that would be funny at all.

then you drove it home.

If I had *insert sum of money here* for every time one of our injury-prone pitchers went into ST claiming to have "no pain" when throwing...

I guess I could see Hill throwing painlessly.  Unfortunately, that just means his fastball will clock at about 80 MPH.

If the cutback works at 80mph, then we may be ok.

Hill Has Arbitration Hearing

Shawn Hill today became the first Washington Nationals player to go to arbitration. Hill, along with his agent, Adam Katz, appeared for the hearing opposite Washington GM Jim Bowden. The two sides had tried to work out a deal just beforehand, but ended up about $50,000 apart. Based on numbers submitted last month, Hill is seeking $775,000. The Nats are offering $500,000.

The three-person panel is expected to make its decision by the end of the weekend. It must rule in favor of either Hill or the ballclub; it cannot compromise by selecting a figure in between the two proposed salaries.

Hill, 27, went 1-5 with a 5.83 ERA over 12 starts in 2008. The right-hander battled forearm and elbow pain all season, and was shut down for good after his June 24 start. Hill had arthroscopic surgery on his right elbow in September.

So far, the Nationals have been unable to come to terms with any of the four arbitration-eligible players -- a group that also includes Ryan Zimmerman, Josh Willingham and Scott Olsen.

BTW Hill's agent should have capitulated, considering odds are the Nats are gonna win arby anyway, may as well get more $ for his client.

jesus. Not to sound like hammondsnats, but they couldn't pony up $50K more to get the job done without having an arbitration hearing?

While most all arby-eligible players have reached contracts with their teams we have signed no one. If they go to arbitration with RZ I will be pissed.

According to Nationals.com, Hill is the first player in all of baseball to go to arbitration this year. :bang:
