unlike other team's websites who are all on suicide watch right now, and suggesting that their stadium be burnt down.

we're just over here making jokes about Corey Patterson, Nick Johnson, and whatever the other guy we signed for Syracuse's name is.

Bravo to everyone for keeping a somewhat level head about this(except for PA "Yes Tex deserves to die and I hope he burns in hell" Natsfan.  :icon_mrgreen: ).

all I said was he's no A-Rod. He's not. When he breaks the home run record without ever using 'roids, let me know and I'll eat a crow right off the roadside.

I'm happy we didn't sign Tex - he's over paid. It's Dunn time!

Here's a joke:

When I read we signed Sosa, I figured it was sammy

Well he did play for the O's, so that would be in keeping with the trend we have going on here.

i hope Bowden resists the urge to sign Dunn. for obvious reasons: he's a strikeout machine, hits for an atrocious average, is a monstrosity on defense, only possesses one tool, and is overall- an overrated bum.

Ya, I don't understand if Tex is over paid at 22.5m then what will Dunn be if he makes 15-16m? Dunn is good for a DH that's about it, and even then, I'd sign Burell over him who can at least play the field.

Burrell was the worst fielding starting LF in baseball last year

Do you mean 2007 or 2008?

2007 was no picnic either. Is the Zone Rating based on innings played or games?

Its based on balls hit to a 'zone' on the field, and the precentage of a successfully fielding those balls.

Is Dunn's rating better than Wily Mo Pena's? For that matter what about Josh Willingham?

I heard reports that Dunn is expected to sign for $36 million over 3 seasons. Of course we have all seen how right these reports have been lately.

So you're saying we should do everything in our power to get Jose Vidro back. He never struckout and batted .300 every year.

He hits 40 HRs every year; more than our top three combined.  He's in the top ten in OB% every year too.  He also fills a huge need of a left handed bat.  While he may not be Tex, he'd be a HUGE upgrade over any other bat on the roster, and he's not yet 30 y/o.

He made $13 mil last season. Coveted free agents don't take pay cuts.  :glug:

He isn't coveted. The D'Backs & Reds proved that. Dunn is the ultimate dumpster dive.

Is this breaking news?

I find it odd how a certain faction gets so offended by the least negative thing said about Dunn. Dunn seems to have that Church, Hill, Bergmann thing going, and that's without Dunn even posting or reading here.

Unreal.  Dunn is nowhere near Tex's abilities and you'd be willing to get him at around $15 MM (which is what he'll get, minimally)?  I'd much rather have Tex at $25MM/per rather than Dunn at $15MM/per.  Dunn makes no sense for this team long term.

This was lifted from another board so I don't know if it's accurate or not but I suspect it is;
Quote
Splits for Teixiera and Dunn over the past 3 seasons:

Vs. RHP

Teixeira .289avg/.380obp/.540slg with 71 HR, 227 RBI
Dunn .248avg/.385obp/.549slg with 90 HR, 221 RBI

Vs. LHP
Teixeira .319/.411/.544 with 25HR, 109 RBI
Dunn .237/.366/.455 with 30HR, 77 RBI

Hey Minty Fresh, need help deciphering the numbers?  :ballbat:
