You might not read this on the MLB Trade Rumors Web site, but the Nationals today announced the signing of two international players, both 16-year-old Dominican prospects. Catcher Bill Pena and left-handed pitcher Gregory Baez both agreed to professional contracts with the organization after being scouted recently at the Loma del Sueno complex in San Cristobal. Two Washington front office members, scouting director Dana Brown and new special GM assistant Deric Ladnier were on hand to scout the players. Pena is described by Brown as a two-way catcher with a strong arm. Baez is 6-foot-2 with an easy motion and late movement on his pitches.
