I agree with that. I love Willie off the bench but I wouldn't prefer him starting on an every-day basis unless there was a dire situation.

I don't think we'll have to go down that path considering we have Mills, Dukes, Kearns, Willingham, and Pena.
Pena? I think I'll shoot myself if that happens

look, fact is...I'm in support of whatever improves our offense.  seriously.

it could be dunn, it could be Abreu, it could be someone we trade for.  don't really care HOW we get it done.  someone has a better solution that is feasible then I'm all for it.  but for right now, the best option I see is Dunn. I don't foresee anyone trading us a power hitter for anything less than Zimmermann and Milledge/Dukes.

I just don't want to be forced to sit through YET ANOTHER season where the Nats have the worst offense in the National League. we've been doing this for like 3 years straight now.  we need to improve.

didn't they just re-sign him to a longer deal?

Is there any player on any team considered "untouchable?"  Jackson for three players?

Prince Fielder?

we've been over the fielder/gonzalez options earlier, but it'd be near impossible to get one of them.  both teams, rightfully so, are asking for the farm.

For who? Pete Orr, Wily Mo, and Saul Rivera?

Doug Melvin is not exactly Larry Beinfest

Throw in Kory Casto and you've got a deal.

I'd love to have him.

don't think we can get him.

but I'd love to have him on the team. he's a great solution, if it can be done.

I'd trade for him, and then sign him for at least 5 years immediately.

he's just as young as Zimmerman, has a track record of success at the ML level. mashes the freak out of the ball, plays a passable 1B.

I'm 100% in agreement with this statement.  I just see "improvement" in a different way.  To me, Dunn is wasting our time and not improving us the way we need to improve.

Why the hair across your ass?

no, I just doubt that they'll trade him for Nick Johnson. he's young, healthy, cheap, and hitting well. if we had Jackson, I wouldn't be looking to trade him right now. *shrug*

and with that said, he's not exactly the "power bat" that we need.  15, 15, 12. he hits a decent amount of doubles though.

Yes, any team trading for Johnson would be taking on an older player who is injury prone.  That's why you throw in a Milledge/Dukes and a pitching prospect.  You've got to give something to get something.

I'm just grabbing straws.  It's not my job to figure out the "WHO" if not DUnn.  I just don't think Dunn's a good fit and there are other options out there that a GM can work a trade for.

Dunn sucks IMO.  You won't change that opinion just because he happens to be the best out there.  You still can't make chicken salad out of chicken crap.

I realize that, but i think you missed my point.

i wasn't saying trade them straight up.  I'm just saying, I think the DBacks would rather stick with Jackson at 1B. Jackson = Johnson, stats-wise, pretty much, only less injury prone.

And in some of our opinions, we feel Dunn is a good option (and a more realistic one).  Trust me most of us wanted Teixeira, but we didn't get him.  Not saying you have to go out and get the next guy, but Dunn is 29, he is a proven big bat and it's not like we're talking 5 year deal here.

We agree to disagree.
