Thanks guys...didn't intend to over generalize...Thanks to those who understand what this is about. I have to laugh at the "I don't believe you have a source" crowd..like it's so unreal that someone in Maine might have a friend high up in a Sports organization and have that friend tell them a story that is factually true...it kills me..obviously if you look at some of the people we have interviewed we aren't just a bunch of morons. We fully admit, we are not pros, we are fans with a love of the medium and have done something about it, made contacts and are starting to carve out a niche...so there it is...again thanks to those who get it.

Sounds cool to me.  Mind you, I withhold judgement pending some evidence and track record, but there's no reason to get along well in the meantime.

Were you once an Expos fan, and if so did that have any impact on your development of a source(s)?

I've seen all of those stories, but unless I'm mistaken, this Central Maine blog post was posted long before any of those stories were published/reported. This one is from Dec. 10, the ones you posted all came along several days later: http://www.centralmainesportsblog.com/2008/12/teixeira-to-nationals-99-according-to.html

hey Guys...just your friendly neighborhood Associate Editor of The Central Maine Sports Blog (www.thecmsb.com) were most of you have poo pooed our little story. I can assure you it is a real story with real sources that are very trustworthy. Believe what you want...just know where it was heard 1st when this is all said and done...

That's great news if it turns out to be true. To show you what good sports we are, we'll give you AZ's first born son: little Randy Elijah Milton Zimmerman.

BerkeleyNat, you must be the only Nats/Ravens fan I've ever come across. I know plenty of Skins/O's fans, but no Nats/Ravens fans. How did this come about? Just curious.

we spoke to our source last night after, what we thought was Peter Gammons saying 24-48 hours and it was down to the Red Sox and Nats. We later learned when ESPN posted the video, Gammons mentioned Sox and Nats in passing in a quickly referencing Teixeira only in passing. The source said they were still "99% sure" and "99% certain" Tex would be a National. We know that the loss of draft picks was a huge matter and that was discussed organization wide.

If you take that info, and combine it with the stories circulating around Boston today that John Henry, the Sox majority owner, said unequivocally, no player would get a 10 year deal, and you see more and more why we at The CMSB are sure our source was correct from the get go.

I think a lot of people here thought there was a 99% chance of us getting Tex that day.

Sounds plausible. I can't imagine the draft pick situation being a huge obstacle, considering the fact that top-15 picks are protected...so neither of our top ten picks would be affected. But yeah, Henry's comments did sound like he was distancing himself from Tex. We'll see. I'm growing more and more optimistic.

Is your source a Nationals official? Tex spokesman? High Ranking MLB official?

Wow ... out little band of Merry Nats fans are getting attention - How about that! I feel so important now :)

I think he looked at his server traffic, and a spike came from WNFF.net - Props for standing up for yourself and sticking to your story.

Well Maine is one of my favorite places in the world, but random dudes can start blogs with "anonymous sources" - your site is well done, that's all I can judge right now. MLBTR has a serious track record of respectability - Gammons reads it. You have to build a reputation over time. It's not that you live in Maine, it's that your source isn't named and you haven't earned respect yet.

That Boston Globe reporter that didn't know that the top 15 picks are protected, and that Type A FA's cost 1 pick instead of 2 now, that reporter has negative credibilty. You sir, have my respect for defending yourself and stick to your principles, but I need proof that you really have inside sources.

I just happened to be a Ravens and Expos fan. I stayed with the Montreal franchise when they relocated to Washington. I started liking the Expos when I was a kid because of Gary Carter. That was due to the fact that I was playing catcher at the time in little league. I just kind of stuck with them after that, even after Carter left.

Similar story to how I became a Nats fan, except I'm not a Ravens fan...or of any other NFL team really.

Supposidly there will be a press conference in an hour or so where it will be announced that Tex will be a Nat.

We go to the beach on the Southern coast - would love to explore the rest of the state at some point - but the drive is long enough as it is :D

Great seafood, nice people, beautiful place.

If this happens it's going to be fun listening to how the birds fans at OH spin it to be a negative for us and how they are better off without Teixeira.
