I don't see why the Nats don't up the offer to 180 million, which would pretty much guarantee Tex.  There's no way he signs with the Nats in the realm of 8/160 with the Angels and Red Sox reportedly offering similar amounts.

i think we are working with outdated numbers here.

i'm pretty sure the bidding has been raised since the last reports.

What are you talking about?  Dierkes is saying DC, ESPN is saying Bawlmore, so if anything, I'm going against the grain.

Big-name Bore-ass free agents go to the big market/winning teams.

The vast majority of commentators, writers, bloggers, whatever tend to dismiss the Orioles and Nats bids as mere window dressing for the real effort happening behind closed doors, where the Red Sox are just so clearly the right place for Tex, that no other team is even worth considering.

Which is funny because the Red Sox and Teixeira are not a match that makes sense. They don't need a first baseman.

You've been listening to Jon Kruk too much.

I wonder how much input Mark's wife will have in his decision. Does anybody know if Mrs. T and the Two little T's (or is it just tt) moved to Cali last summer?

Actually, never.  I hear it on XM 175 pretty much all day, though.  The presumption is that what the Red Sox want, the Red Sox get.

I'm thinking 3 road trips a season to Atlanta would be an appealing dimension to the Nats' bid.

We've been stuck with Hill and Bergmann for that long and they have brought close to nothing to the table so it wouldn't be that different.

Yeah, but it's not like we went out and signed them to big-money deals. They were just spare parts we happened to have lying around the garage. Going out and signing Cabrera with free agent dollars is a whole other thing.

IF Tex does end up here, is there still any chance we could still go after Hudson?

Besides Baltimore being his team growing up, what else makes them a better choice than us?
We are about the same distance from his home
We are said to have offered more money than them
Our owner's name is not Peter "The Pig" Angelos

I haven't seen anything to indicate the Nats are even considering Hudson.

There's the rub.  No one really knows how much money either team has offered.

The offers have to be comparable, though.

Really?  So it's just people throwing names out there with Dunn?

It's people just stating who they want the Nats to acquire.

there have been articles linking the two together as Plan B if we don't get Tex. and they've been linked numerous times on this forum.

some reports say just Dunn, others say Dunn and Hudson.

The OH is going to be fun to watch explode if the O's don't get Tex.
If WE get him, I can see it going nuclear.

Sometimes this is all that matters. The whole "it was my dream to play here" type of thing.

Sportscenter, ESPNRadio style, just reported "sources close to this situation" have revealed to Ravi that Tex is very interested in signing with the O's.  No other teams mentioned.

I'd say it's a done deal on where he's going. The only question is for how much.

Me too.
