Then maybe we can bag Dunn, Hudson and Cruz, trade for Lars Anderson of the Red Sox if they get Tex, and call it good.

All three would would have to WANT to come here, though. I hope they were all friends while with Arizona.

Karl Ravech said on ESPN that Tex may be leaning towards the Orioles.

So could that mean the reports from the weekend were correct and once they were leaked they decided not to show Teixeira at the Ravens game?

anderson would cost a ton in prospects, I believe.
That he would. But they would have Tex and Youk, for chrissakes!

That's where I'm expecting him to go. As much as I don't listen to the "insiders" out there, I don't think that one on the O's board would say what he said unless he was absolutely sure they'd get him. Unless, of course, he just wanted to be done w/ that site altogether.

It's incredibly depressing to know that I own articles of clothing that are older than most of the posters on here .... :(

I've still got my treasured 1976 dorm T-shirt from Maryland - Allegany E

What was his source?  Buster "I love the BlO's" Olney?

It's Dierkes vs. ESPN vs. common sense at this point, I guess.  I'm still going with common sense.  Tex to Boston.

Well remember yesterday Buster said he doesn't know why the Os and Nats are even in the bidding for Tex because it makes no sense.

Well remember yesterday Buster said he doesn't know why the Os and Nats are even in the bidding for Tex because only Boston, New York, LA, and Chicago have teams that deserve to bid on quality free agents that can improve their teams.

fixed.

I also think he'll end up in Boston. I'm ready to move on and get to signing Dunn and Hudson. I'll still celebrate like crazy if we sign Tex, but I'm really starting to think that Dunn will be our first baseman next season.

Personally, I'd much rather have him go to baltimore than to boston -- at least it gives the non-media approved destinations something to hope for for the future -- I'm sick of all those stinking talking heads ...

why?

we'll only see him 6 times a year, and the Orioles will still be bad.

as long as we still make moves that improve our squad, I'll be fine with it.

lose out on Tex, sign Dunn. and then look at who else you can sign.

we made the statement that we are willing to spend during the Tex sweepstakes, so it should be a slight bit easier to convince other FAs to come here.

How dare us even think that we deserve a competitive team?

Or, more like that's what everyone else is saying, so it's safety in numbers.  Sort of like investors in the Madoff firm.

Way to go OLD MAN! :)

Course, it doesn't fit very well, you know, the big guns stretching the sleeves out...

It was heartbreaking to throw away my Bullets T-shirt, featuring a fat lady and "the opera ain't over till the fat lady sings", from their only championship.

QFT. I wouldn't lose a bit of sleep if Tex went to Baltimore. I would love to have him, but we can still make our team better with other players. I don't care who is out there, as long as we are a better team.

Plus the Dunn/Hudson/Cruz approach is cheaper and fills more holes. And they would likely be short-term deals, so there would be no logjam for Rhinehart/Burgess/Mock/Hernandez to navigate.

Yeah, that was me.  I stand by that.

I'm torn on the O's/Boston thing.  I'd rather projectile vomit than see him go to either of those places, but both can have gruesome consequences.
Or, more like that's what everyone else is saying, so it's safety in numbers.  Sort of like investors in the Madoff firm.
What are you talking about?  Dierkes is saying DC, ESPN is saying Bawlmore, so if anything, I'm going against the grain.

Big-name Bore-ass free agents go to the big market/winning teams.

I wouldn't be so sure about the Orioles still being bad.  They have some legit young pitching in their system.  They could easily put together a good team in like two years.

I just don't want him to go to Bawlmore because it will validate the delusions of all of those jackass BlO's fans.

Dierkes is guessing DC on a hunch only. By his admission he has no reason for it - just a feeling. When pressed he said that he thought the Nationals were more likely to have bid more than the reported amounts.
