Mt. St. Joe's was my high school's brother school, so I have known about Teix since his HS days.

FWIW, I think the Orioles hold a slight upper hand as far as hometown allure goes, but if we give him a better offer, he could be had.

Tim Dierkes thinks Itll be us!

lol, at least someones on our side.
Just got a question answered about Anderson Hernandez in the chat - Tim thinks if he bombs we'll just stick to Belliard.

^

According to ESPN, Teixeira is close to making a decision. Why doesn't he just shut the freak up until he decides or decide already. All this stupid reporting about nothing is annoying.

According to WNFF, member spidernat is alittle angry at the reporting of nonsense

In other news: Debbi Taylor looks like an Afghan dog!

Am I right though? What's the point of reporting that he's close to making a decision? Get back to me when there is concrete news and stop trying to milk the (non)story.

Tom, Let get this straight. BP used Joe Carter's 1997 season to prove their point? Joe Carter was 37 years old and would retire after 1998. BP has an agenda, which is to prove they have the "best" stats. For you to disregard any stat is somewhat disingenuous for somebody that relies on statistics as much as you do.

Their point was that any old mediocre player could drive in 100 runs if they had the opportunities that Carter did.  RBI's is as much about opportunities as the "Save" is.  Pretty hard to rack up 62 saves without a boatload of opportunities, and it's hard to get 100 RBI's without lots ducks on the pond.

HAMMONDSNATS/SPIDER ALERT
Tim Dierkes just said in his chat that we're one of the teams that's been talking to Daniel Cabrera.

When he's on he's good and he still has great stuff- when he sucks, he is spectacularly bad- his starts would be worth watching either way

Again they are cherry picking. They state he came to bat with 437 runners on base 30th in baseball but don't mention what his RBI rank was. The snidely state that he came to bat 97 times with a runner on third but failed to mention 42 of those times there were TWO outs and he had a .400 BA/.500 OBA/.800 SLG in those occasions. But then those nuumbers don't support their predetermined conclusion.

Will the change to the NL and having the 8 and 9 hitters help out?
I don't have his inter league stats to back this up, just a hunch.

I thought they said he was going somewhere for a 3 year deal. I'm sure we're not making that sort of commitment.
