Anyone scared now that the Mets have Putz and K-Rod now?
If we don't get to them before the 8th, it is going to be hard to win.

from reports, Putz is pretty upset because he wants to be a closer, not a set-up man.

I was kind of wondering how that was gonna work out. Two good closers, but only one gets the saves. The Mets will collapse again.

The National media are going to be shocked. It cracks me up that we aren't getting any attention. I am real close to saying that there is no way that we don't land Tex.

OH Insider

You have to give those guys credit for hanging in there, even though just about everyone has written them off on this one.

I gotta say, the dudes over at OH are SO confident, like I mean ABSOLUTELY SURE that the Orioles will get Tex. their insiders are practically stating(you know...saying but not saying) it as fact.

I dunno where they are getting their confidence from.

I'm hopeful for our chances, but I am not anywhere near as confident as they are about the Nats getting him.

ESPN keeps saying that the Nats will have the top bid, but Tex doesn't want to play for a loser, so he will take less pay.

ESPN really hates the Nats

the only thing anyone at ESPN knows about the Nationals is their W/L record from last year.

The only way he goes to the orioles is if they (like us) outbid the sox -- (and us) by a lot -- a lot -- last confirmed offer by the Os was the lowest of the 4 teams (angels, sox, nats, Os) - so unless they've come back to the table with 10/200+ then they're "insiders" are just speculating -- now if they do outbid everyone and Tex decides to go there -- so be it

Yeah, the problem is that they have two "insiders" on their board with different opinions. One is basically saying that it's a done deal that Tex is coming to BMore, while the other says that they are out of the running.

I think I know why they are so confident now.

apparently one of the insiders has leaked that the Orioles will get a "last-chance" opportunity to beat the highest offer, as some sort of "hometown advantage".  i mean like right before he signs the contract, he'll approach the O's and say "I'm about to take this deal from *insert team*, can you beat it?"

and they are mixing that with the "Angelos won't dare lose him to the Nats/Sox" angle, and they are convinced that no matter what, the Orioles are going to outbid whoever the high bid is, at the very last minute.

Pretty much.  Forget the fact that we just acquired Willingham and Olsen.

The problem is that it's a message board, and these guys could be complete and total liars.
