  Who is this commentator?
Someone named "Russell."

Although I can see Tex with the Red Sox (because he is white), I still see him linking back up with the Angels now that CC is taken.

If that contract offer is true, that's approximately 21.5 MM/year.  That seems a reasonable enough offer to shut up the "LAC" crowd.

absolutely.  like I said, if this is the offer, and Tex turns it down, there's nothing to complain about.

I really hope that Tex chooses us over the O's just because I want to see their board go into complete meltdown mode

I consider that a secondary motivation.  I want him primarily because he'll be beneficial to winning.  But I don't live in the area and don't have to deal with O's fans.

LOL well obviously my first motivation was to benefit from having a better team. The whole board going into meltdown would have been more of an added bonus.

one thing to note here though is that the O's really can't afford to lose to the Nats in this.

the Nats can afford to lose out on Tex(even to the O's), though it is ideal that they do not.

if Tex chooses the O's over us, the Nats just go for Dunn or try to trade for another 1B though, and as long as they solve the need at 1B, we're happy for the most part(I would think).

but the O's, if they don't land Tex and the Nats do....their fanbase will revolt.

just something to think about.

LOL

Angels are out. Tex and wifey want to be back East. Yankees are spent (even for them). Nats are a disaster, even worse than the O's. It's down to the O's and Sox. Trust me on this.

not true.  Red Sox and Angel the front runners right now.  O's and Nat's encouraged to bid up his services though.

if this is the case, and we are just being strung along to up the price on the Angels and Sox, I'd walk right now, and make an offer to Adam Dunn, and be finished with it, or revist acquiring that 1B prospect from the Rockies, whose name I can't spell right now.

I don't know who wrote it. I'm just taking what WPA wrote and theorycrafting.

The O's board fans claim they have "connections" in the front office? How shady.

It doesn't matter if they have connections in the Orioles FO ... boras is the only one who knows who has offered what, where tex wants to go, who is the front running team, etc., -- everyone else -- including "friends in the FO" are speculating at this point ...

Wow, the Orioles Hangout is crazy with how fast people keep posting. Their Tex thread is twice the length of ours and growing by the second.

like I said, OH has been around for a LONG time, so they have quite the established poster base, probably at or near the size of extremeskins.

Everybody Take a Deep Breath

Lots of stuff flying around about Mark Teixeira, but little of it true. As one Nationals executive told me a few minutes ago, "Ninety percent of this stuff is pure fabrication." I have also heard from multiple people, representing several different teams, that they expect the Teixeira negotiations to last into next week. In other words, things are not close with Teixeira. There are simply too many balls in the air.

It has reached the point where numbers are being exchanged. Are these solid offers or the dreaded "concepts" and "parameters"? Depends upon your interpretation. But the Nationals are EXTREMELY wary of being used to get more money out of another team. So I don't expect them to jump in and set an early benchmark.

Hoping to get Scott Boras in about 90 minutes, and then speak to the Nationals some more after that.

from Sheinin over on Nats Journal.
