Some shots from tonight's (non) game. Calsgr8 was at the loft; if there were others I missed you. I felt like standing up and shouting "Any WNFF'ers here?" but only had had 1 ale, so I resisted the impulse.

It was nice that Manny and the team came out after the game was cancelled and Manny addressed the crowd. Then everyone watched a 2008 highlight film on the scoreboard. Afterwards t-shirts and baseballs were thrown into the crowd behind our dugout. The evening ended with Willie Harris leading the crowd in a chant of "WIL>>>LIE", before he threw his unifowm cap into the crowd. A wet night, no game, but a good time anyway.

I missed the festivities.  :'( My friend and I left about 8:30 quarter of 9.  We hung out at Red Loft most of the night because it was the only covered area.  My tix were up in 226 and with all that wind and rain, I wasn't about to go to our seats.  One of the stadium workers thought that the game would be called at 0830, so we left.  I kept dialing the Nationals number and pushing 5 for updates, but all it would say is it was in a rain delay and that no further information for a starting time.  Sometime on the ride back to Vienna, I checked my cell phone MLB.com and it had a PPD after the game.  Postponed... Yeah right!

It was Great to see Salty there!  I wanted to scream the same thing that Salty did.  I doubt the crowd would have noticed.

As for the Bethesda area, I grew up off Old Georgetown Rd.  North Bethesda Jr. High was behind my house!  Went to Walter Johnson High (really I did!).  The newspaper was called "The Pitch".  The Yearbook was called "The Windup".  The little book that they gave incoming students was called "The Warm-up"

I got home around 10 or so.  Went to watch TV (basement).  Tried to stay up for the news but fell asleep in front of the TV.  I just woke up and dragged my self upstairs to my computer.  Going to bed until 7 am.

Night Night!

I ended up full-timing it at the Caps match (a 5-2 Caps win) - during both match intervals I looked out a concourse window and noticed it was raining but not all that hard - so I was surprised when I asked a Nats fan on the Metro how the baseball turned out and she said it had been cancelled.

Oh well...it'll return 199 days from today.

Damnit. We left right after they did that tarp tease. Salty, where you wearing a predominantly green W hat?

When did the Caps Match end?  I ran into a couple of Caps fans on the subway last night.  A couple in Nats Jerseys.  I thought they said it ended in a tie 2-2.  Maybe they left early too.

What time did they finally call the NATS game?  I'm curious.

It was about 8:50, the time on the clock in the photo. And I was wearing my regular red Curly W cap, a red jacket, red Zimm jersey, red under.....(you get the picture.. :D).  I finally left in a panic that the shuttle buses would be gone. Got home around 11.

The Caps match let out at 21.37; full-time score was 5-2 Caps. The Hurricanes scored two in the first period but the Caps scored five unanswered goals thereafter; the score became 2-2 on Ovechkin's penalty shot 14.52 into the second period. If the Nats match was cancelled at 20.50 then any Caps supporters one would have run into at that time or shortly thereafter would probably have left at the second interval.
