I understood this 12 months ago. The last 12 months haven't been great.

My guess is he looks like he was built in a lab and seems like a good kid, so they're just in love. I'm not writing him off at his young age, but I am confused by any thought him contributing in DC next year that isn't based on hope.
Also, remember, he lost a year in HS to covid, and a year to that weird back injury. He's 21 and starting the season in Triple A. That's what we wanted to see. I'll be concerned if he is struggling in June and July. And even then, we still have Lipscomb and Wallace.

Given the Nats off-season, shouldn't this be re-titled 'Nats Tepid Stove' ?...  ;)

Which means very little.  We've seen what Lipscomb can do and Wallace turns 24 this year with a career ISO in the minors of .147.  House has been very inconsistent and could go either way this year.

Punting seasons sucks.  Poor player development and drafting for 8 years that drags into several years of punting seasons sucks worse.

You're not wrong, but this isn't about poor player development and drafting anymore. We, effectively, undid most of that with the 2021 and 2022 trades.

This is squarely on ownership for not spending. You add Jack Flaherty and Pete Alonso or Joc Pederson and this is a team that could push for a WC.

It's both. The '21 trades yielded basically nothing.  The Orioles have a stronger 3B prospect from the 4th round, Coby Mayo, than the Nats have from the first round with House.  The Orioles have built an entire lineup of home grown players and that was without the equivalent of a Soto trade.  The Giants have a better offensive prospect than any in the Nats system with Fairfax County's Bryce Eldridge.  The farm is remarkably bare for a team that's been so bad for so long.

So is their MLB roster.  Rizzo must be a big believer in consistency...
