Stephen Strasburg has progressed to the point where NLCS is a possibility if #Nats advance. Next step is throwing off mound. @MLB

I am pretty much assuming this is going to happen if we get past the Dodgers. My only question is how deep could he really go in a game. You would assume 5 at most.

I guess I'm not going to assume anything. If he comes in and looks like he did in that last outing before he got hurt, then nothing would shock me. I bet they push it quite a bit further than they would if it were, say, June as long as nothing in there explodes. Salazar for Cleveland is looking to come back right around the same time, too. Will be interesting to compare the two if/when they come back.

In the NLCS, with all the off days, you can also maybe use him as a 2-inning super-reliever early on while you're stretching him out to start again. Like, have him pitch the 7th in Game 2 if the game is tied/close.

I think it would give you a lot of options. I don't know that they'd want to use him as a reliever for the first time coming off an injury, though.

If he really is ready (I highly doubt it), then yeah, use him as a RP, but only after 3-5 days rest and for 2-4 IP. That'd fit well with a Boss Ross start (~4 IP), Stras (2-4 IP), close er up.

If he came in at the start of the inning, sure, but I wouldn't want him getting hot quickly and coming in to put out a fire.

Almost better to start Strasburg and piggyback to Ross.

Kershaw had a longer layoff than Stras and immediately came back throwing a ton of innings. If Stras is on the roster its to start.

I don't think Strasburg should throw another pitch this year. He's had 2 outings in the past 2 months. Both of them landed him on the DL.

Shut this guy down. He's too valuable long term. And for the record I was very against the 2012 shutdown. This is different. He just got signed to a long term contract and his arm needs some serious rehab.

According to Castillo, Strasburg tore his pronator tendon and just threw 25 pitches off the mound.

Badly worded non-sequitur.  Tore his pronator tendon is past tense.  "Just" as in "just now" not "only".
