I'm lighting votive candles and sacrificing a chicken (OK, well the chicken was previously sacrificed, but I'm cooking it). Sucks for him but c'est la guerre. At least the Mets' SPs are even more decimated.

Against the dodgers? Gio. Dodgers are dead last in the league against LHP. Gio goes on a short leash. We load up the pen with as many lefties as we can. We hope Gio goes 5 without giving up more than 3 runs then match up thorugh the sixth and seventh. Stras in the 8th, Melancon in the 9th.

We're fourth in baseball hitting lefties. We should be able to win one of those games. Honesrtly, we have to, but we should be able to handle that. Kershaw has choked in the playoffs in the past. Rich HIll has one horrid appearance almost ten years ago. We can beat them if the lineup shows up.

Dodgers, right now, are a five game series. We can swing it on three pitchers. Frankly, it's been shown you can win 5 and 7 game series with two studs. We need our studs to be studs. Max has to dominant. And Roark has to be the pitcher vark claims he is.

Now, if we're up two games going in to game 3, maybe you go Ross/pen for game 4. Maybe that's the game you squeeze two innigns out of Strasburg.

Andrew Miller came back in less then a month last season with this injury. But he's a pen arm not a SP.

I'm still holding out hope he starts a playoff game or 5;)

Strange things can happen. The Nats have Scherzer and Roark, at least.

(1) Spahn and Sain / and pray for rain

(2) Yankees won the World Series in 1978 with only one starting pitcher, Ron Guidry, and one relief pitcher, Goose Gossage (won Game 4). Catfish Hunter's arm was falling off, although Hunter was such an ace that he helped even though his arm was in shreds (two starts, and won the clincher).

(3) Washington ball club won the 1924 World Series even though Walter Johnson lost all of his starts. Came in to pitch four innings of relief and to win Game 7.
