This loss feels like one from earlier in the season when we were scoring 6+ runs a night only to give up 8+.

The Bullpen's numbers this week:

10 IP 12 H 9 ER 12 BB 6 K (0-4, 8.10 ERA, 2.40 WHIP)

omg. now Acta is dogging Clippard for throwing 2 scoreless innings and giving us a chance to win.

I've about had it. He craps on the young players and backs the veterans whole-heartedly.

I love the fact that Manny didn't praise Clippard at all. The guy has a grudge against him, Bergmann, and Dukes

what, Det deserves plenty of blame but he didn't lose the game. The bullpen did, for the fourth time this week.

Det is also a rookie and is still finding his way. What are these 40 year old veterans' excuses for walking in runs and giving up HRs to career minor leaguers?

Manny Acta disgusts me.

Called up from Triple-A Gwinnett a few hours before the game, Conrad took an 0-1 pitch and hit a three-run homer over the right-field wall to give the Braves an 8-5 lead.

"[It was a] huge thrill," said Conrad. "Obviously, [it's] the best experience I've ever had in the big leagues. It just feels awesome to come up and contribute right away like that."

Colome declined to comment after the game.

What did he say?
A reporter (Chico?) commented that despite the loss a bright spot had to have been Clippard's outing.

Acta quickly shot that down and said that he thought this was not a good outing by Clippard again because he was leaving too many balls up in the zone and had control problems. He had nothing positive whatsoever to say about Clippard.

Throughout the press conference he never once mentioned one of the bums like Colome, Tavarez, etc by name and just talked about the veteran relievers as a whole and said that they need to get better.

Actually, according to Chico, when asked to comment he did say, "Not today.  I don't feel good".

My immediate reaction to reading that was, "You should feel unemployed, you bum!"  >:(

wow. sickening. I just cannot believe this organization puts up with this crap. Dude has a freaking 8 ERA and then dodges the reporters after the game. Where is the accountability? If I were the Nats I would have had his crap all packed for him and sitting outside the locker room as soon as the game ended.

That once and for all proves that we have no leaders on the team. A leader wouldn't put up with that crap. Dude blows the game and then sneaks away to let everyone else answer all the questions. That crap wouldn't fly in Boston, Anaheim, and other winning organizations.

What a joke.
Manny Acta on Clippard: "They (Atlanta) were chasing pitches way out of the strike zone... He got the outs but we look at more than just getting the outs."

Clippard walked none and struck out two. Since when is getting guys to chase a bad thing? How many of your muchachos got the outs without letting runs to score tonight, Manny?

I guess unless you are over 30 and walk batters Acta will not support you. His "reliable veterans" gave up 4 runs and 6 walks in 3 IP tonight.

Well he's right about what he said... he wasn't throwing first pitch strikes and he had no command... but its not something you need to nag about when he was the only guy in the pen getting outs tonight.

If it cost them the game... that's one thing... but Manny taking it easy on Colome and even blaming himself for not putting Jesus in a position to succeed is another.

That's what really got to me.

Does a donkey costume count?
