I think it's VORP & PECOTA that are "pay stats".

I think you can access those stats without a subscription as well.  You might want to check out Fangraphs.com as well.  A lot of the statistics that BaseballReference gets come directly from the fangraphs website.

I keep a spreadsheet with all the major metrics in it for the Nationals current players.  I usually post it in the other thread every couple weeks, but here it is: (sample size for A Gonzalez and A Hernandez are too small to be taken seriously yet)

Belliard is the only guy who can hit worth a damn. Pathetic. Guzman's slugging is super awful, which I hadn't realized.

I'd take the Taveras (CF), Milledge (LF), and Dukes (RF) trio over Milledge, Dukes, and Kearns next season.

Either sounds like an absolute nightmare.

If all three could stay healthy for the whole season, we'd score more runs w/ Taveras in the lineup.

But I agree that there are better options out there. The Rockies could want Kearns if Holliday leaves, though.

Bernadina will start in my opinion. [I mean in RF, I think we'll trade Kearns.]

Danger Danger! BBQ has an idea! We give Kearns and receive SS Chris Nelson. Other players' whom we could get may be: Jayson Nix or Joe Koshanky...

Thinking that a team would give up a prospect, let alone a GOOD prospect, for a guy like Kearns is laughable. He's hitting <.220 with almost no pop. Sure he draws walks, plays good defense, and is hitting pretty well since coming back from his injury, but you can't expect anything good in return for him.

This is coming from the biggest Kearns fan on the board.

Glad I read this after I went to Busch Gardens the other day, because I would've jumped off one on the roller coasters after reading this.

If Willy Taveras is a Nat next year, I'm giving up my season tickets and my fanhood of the team.

This not what we need.  We need a BAT!!!  Not another light hitting speedster.

well, this is Par for the Jimbo Course.

for some reason he is dead set on having a CFer who runs fast but can't do anything else.  he's been conducting the neverending pursuit of such a player ever since 2005, and it never works out. Chavez didn't work out. Watson didn't work out...twice.  Logan didn't work out.  Bernadina didn't work out.

and Tavares won't work out, either.

Might as well try Roger out again in Sept. We have very little to lose.Trading for Tavares would be inane.

Well, as of now, our CF of the future is Milledge...so hopefully his resurgence means no Tavares.

I really wouldn't mind an outfield of Taveras Milledge and Dukes next year. With Taveras and Bonifacio at the top of the lineup, it'll put a lot of pressure on opposing pitchers and give Zimmerman a lot more fastballs to hit.

As for Bernadina, I'm really not convinced that he will ever be more than a AAAAer.

Bernadina>Tavares

Everyone thought he sucked, because he did, but you have to remember he came straight from AA ball... check out his AAA stats. Also, he's pretty young. I wouldn't mind an OF of Milledge, Bernadina, and Dukes.

From MLBTR:

Quote
Troy E. Renck says Willy Taveras prefers to stay with the Rockies, despite being claimed off waivers. Taveras speculates that he was claimed by either the Yankees or the Nationals. Renck says it is unlikely that Taveras will be traded during the season.
